I understand slang is a large part of modern speech in every country, but I always wondered why folks in the UK use so many colloquialisms.

I think that the US actually has more colloquialisms in their language [ie, their 'version' of English].

Perhaps it just seems like the UK has more because you are unfamilar with theirs?
