I have the impression that most Americans (US citizens) consider themselves free, and America is almost by definition "The land of the free". But compared to Europe I think Americans have a lot of restrictions in their lives, most of them due to a puritanical religious set of values and maybe also due to the fact that the US has become such a dangerous place to live in, at least the cities. Here in Denmark everyones free to get married, including homosexuals. Peoples sex life is their own business, not the churchs. Doctors and hospitals are free. The public schools are safe. My son can ride his bike to school even though we live in a large city.
I'm not saying that we're better than you, just want to discuss what "freedom" really means.

Do you know......?

If professional killers really exist? I don't mean those affiliated with the mafia or organised crime, but those that are in essence 'freelance'. I also mean those who are actually professional killers, rather than thugs who just take cash to do a one-off job.

And no, I don't need one, but would be interested to find out!

do you have to think first?

some Q's and A's are written with most words misspelled and in incomplete sentences.
my question is when you are typing does all the misspelling and incorrect wording come natural or do you have to think about how to compose illiterate prose?

Any serious advice welcome!?

I have a neighbour who plays loud trance music almosy 24/7. Bith myself and several neighbours havev gone round to his place and asked him to turn it down (which he will not, although he is never offenisive). Someone got the law involved but apparently the music is something stupid like two hundredths of a decibel lower than the legal maximum and so we lose out there.

The music is realy anti-social and offputting and reverberated down our streets as well as pounding through the walls.

Is there anything we/I can do, what do you seriously suggest? I don't want to have to hire a leg-breaker as they can be expensive!

Is this normal?

Im just about to sit for one of my postgrad exams today. Having just gone through a full time undergrad programme while working full time, as a foreigner (in London) who has no financial or social support structure of any sort, Im very impressed with the progress. On the bus to my exam centre, my mentor/tutor/friend, a very educated (in my eyes) and proud black man, sent me a text message simply saying "GO ON AND SHINE" - I broke down and cried... Is this normal???

Is anyone in a helpful mood?

Do you know the name of the music from the film Babe? I recently watched it with my baby cousin and was struck with how much I liked the musical score.

The piece I am interested in recurs throughout the film and is simply instrumental, and sounds actually quite similar to 'Waltzing Matilda'. Any ideas? Thanks guys!
