Metrosexuality is, according to British journalist Mark Simpson, the trait of an urban male of any sexual orientation who has a strong aesthetic sense and spends a great amount of time and money on his appearance and lifestyle. Simpson coined the term in 1994 in an article in the The Independent [1] after writing his book about contemporary masculine identity Male Impersonators: Men Performing Masculinity. Simpson described the effect of consumerism and media proliferation, particularly the men’s style press, on traditional masculinity.

If you have ever seen the TV show "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" on the Bravo network on cable television; then you should know what this term means. It means a heterosexual man who fashions himself after a homosexual in that he takes special care with his grooming and follows popular fashion trends. He is a Metro-sexual not a Homosexual. There is a big difference but not too much other than who they are sexually attracted to. Hope this helps to clear things up for you.

Metro Sexual is the term used to describe people acting and sharing same interests than the gay stereotype, but who don't fancy same sex relationship.
