Can a place be truly haunted?

Or do you think that hauntings are just a state of mind?

I think most hauntings are caused by the psychological ramifications of knowing that a person died in a certian place.

i made it by drawing the letters of the alphabet in an ark at the bottom of the page. then i drew yes and no under the ark then i drew a pentagram with a upside down cross in the bottom of the circle then at the top i wrote the numbers 0-9 and it worked with a pencil by me and my friend interlocking our fingers and putting a pencil in between our fingers. it worked but my friend thinks we were talking to bad spirits so any advice?
