His cunning? strength?

Its mainly about his bravery and loyalty to the gods. His men always went against the god's will and were all punished for their ignorance. His physical strength doesn't have much to do with the main differences. His mental strength and resistance however does. When he and his men were on the verge of starvation, he was the only one not to eat the Sun God's cattle and was the only one who the gods let leave the island. His cunning is also a factor setting him apart from the others. He was the one who thought up the winning tactic against the greeks(the Trojan horse) and the plan to escape the Cyclops. He is very different from his men.
