How do you know whether to use 'essere' or 'venire'? I always see both. For example, "Sono stato dato" - they have been given/they were given. That is made using 'essere' but sometimes I see a conjugated version of 'venire'.

In order to be fluent in another language, do you have to know every single word of that language? To me that doesn't seem reasonable because there are some english words that I don't even know. How many words should one know of a foreign language to be consided fluent? If you can carry on a conversation with a local, does that mean you are fluent?

The next day the wolf walked further along the road. He came to the house of bricks which the third little pig had built.

So he huffed and he puffed and he huffed and he puffed. But the house of bricks did not fall down.

The wolf was very angry, but he pretended not to be.

So the next morning the third little pig set off for Farmer Smith's field at five o'clock. He filled his basket with turnips. Then he hurried home before it was six o'clock.

The wolf climbed on the roof. Then he began to come down the chimney.

The little pig took off the lid from the pot. Into the pot fell the wolf, with a big splash. And that was the end of the wolf.

The third little pig was too clever for him.

My step son just called me. He invited me to go to Basle at the weekend. I said I had already arranged with my daughter (his step-sister) to go to a Hamam. 'What?', he asked.
'A Turkish bath,' I replied.
I was amazed! He's Turkish!

It's a toss-up between French and Romanian, but I'd have to go with Romanian. So many weird conjugations like Latin was.

Ciao a tutti!!!

I am curious if anyone knows the origins of this last name " Conandeas ". I have a friend who lives in Italy (Naples) with this last name. I have always been curious about name origins, languages etc. I don't want to ask him because I feel like it would be akward. All seaches always come up with Konandreas not Conandreas.

I have been learning Italian and have found that most last names end in a Vowel. It seems that "Conandreas" is more Spanish than Italian, maybe someone in his family was from a Spanish speaking Country?

Just curious.

PLEASE READ THE QUESTION BEFORE ANSWERING

IF YOU HAVE A DUMB ANSWER THEN " VAFFANCULO E VAI VIA "

Grazie !!!
