I know that the U.S. has been independent for much longer, but it seems that even in the 1800s the speech had changed in the U.S. I have some ideas as to why but would like what others have to say...

-hi today we are going to bake a cake
-cakes are very deliscious, but first we need 3 things
-the first thing we need is 1 cup of water
-the second thing is 1/3 cup of oil
-and third..we need 3 eggs
-oh and dont forget the bowl and a pan
-okay now that we have everything, all we need to do is cook it
-i'll blend the cake mix, water, oil and eggs then we can start to put it in the oven
-we need to leave it in the oven for 32 to 36 minutes...waiting is so boring

-its done! its finished! now we can eat it
-wow this cake is so good. good team work!

I need to take 2 years of a language in college.

I tried spanish in high school, but I didn't pick it up at all. I had a very hard time learning it. I had my worst grades in spanish.

Now I need to take a foreign language in college.
Which should I take? Should I take spanish again (which I know will be hard for me)? or should I try sign language?

I am British and studying at a Uni in the UK so I can't go and live in Spain. i was looking at various language exchange ads on a website where you exchange conversations by messenger, webcam, Skype, etc - i.e your English for their Spanish..but is this a really effective way of learning the language?

In spanish class, we have to make a family tree, and include ourselves. Under my family's pictures, I'm putting their names. How do I say "me" in spanish? I can't seem to find out how.
And I know it's not 'mi' because that's my.

I am glad to know that you have found a way to occupy your time in a constructive manner for this week. Do not get discouraged about your present situation. Time has a strange way of solving problems sometimes. I was in the very same situation you are in presently, prior to marrying, and leaving home. You are fortunate that you have your siblings to fall back on if needed, unlike myself. Growing up an only child, I never learned to relate to other people properly. If I were to lose my job, I would become a person living on the street that no one would care about. At least you have your parents, and your brother and sister. Just be patient and keep trying. Do not give up hope.
