I speak a fair bit of German but I was told the other day that in German speaking countries, they don't actually use der and das but only use die for everything. for example, die Hund. I was told that using Der and Das is considered to be 'posh', If anyone could help me with this, I'd appreciate it!

Also if I wanted to say sorry to someone for maybe bashing into them or something, is it just 'es tut mir leid,'

thanks in advance

I'm trying to get them into english for an assignment and for me they don't make any sense how i would translate them, they're taken out from a big paragraph that I had to translate.

1: "Es el loro de la princesa."
2: "La princesa sa da un poco de la sopa al loro."

Any help?

My husband, Cliff, is a third, and we are expecting Clifford 4 right now. I'm debating nicknames, because I want to avoid big Cliff/ little Cliff issues. I can't call him by his middle name. It looks like we'll be calling him "Ford." Beats "Cliffie". I know people with 3rds often call them Tre, and 5ths are called Quint, but is there any cool 4th name out there in any language? I don't like "Quad", and Ivy is so feminine. Can anyone think of pretty sounding 4's in any language?

do all "tion" words in English have a corresponding "cion" word in Spanish (such as transformation--- transformacion) and then can we assume that they all have a corresponding verb... such as:
transformacion-- transformar?
