I am thankful to have been blessed with wonderful parents, and the ability to make friedns wherever I go. I am thankful to be living in a beautiful town, with peace and quiet and friendly people everywhere.

Short version: I'm only child, mom's total recluse, dad's whipped. Dad's hateful and uncivil GF has a son with whom we were going to dinner, and with whom I get along well enough to mask tension. He backed out, so she made Dad back out of plans. Last night at 5 pm. I live 3 hours from my old home, just left in May. I had an offer from my new neighbors; refused for my dad. Now it's a little too late to be asking to join.
PIty party? Yeah, well, I can't find a food pantry at this late hour in which to make myself useful. I have food, and some people don't. Still, I'd rather not be somewhere I don't belong, faking my winning smile until I almost feel it.
Anyone else feel this? Has resolved it, maybe?

I'm going to my in-laws for Thanksgiving and have waited until the last minute to think about what side dish to bring. I already know they'll have plenty of desserts, so that's out. I really don't want to bring something that's obviously store-bought, but I'm not that great in the kitchen. I need an idea for something that easy to make (or easy to buy at the store and disguise as my own). Help!

A good friend of mine invited me to his family Thanksgiving dinner.
He is married with two kids.

The couple is preparing most of the food but the wife wants the guests to bring a dish.

I am a single man. I don't know how to cook Thanksgiving food.
What should I bring? Where can I buy it?

Thanks.
