Thanksgiving is a remembrance of the day when my British ancestors decided to be grateful to have finally found freedom of religion in the "New Land", but mainly (I suspect) the other reason they celebrated was because, some kind Native Americans took pity on their poor starving, inept butt's and fed them. It's been said that it was at this meal that they first tasted popcorn, provided by the indians who already knew all about it.

President Abraham Lincoln declared a day in the fall when Americans should give thanks to God for the harvest that provided food for the winter months. We celebrate this day (the fourth Thursday in November) with family feasts and GIVING THANKS for all our riches of food, shelter, and loved ones; all gifts from the Almighty.

Thanksgiving is a tradition we do here in america. We celebrate how the pilgrims and the indians became friends and had a huge feast to give thanks for all the friends, family, food, and other necessities thay had. So now, if you are religious, you give thanks to God for all the wonderful things in your life.
