Buffalo is a traditional Lakota, Cheyenne and other plains Natives food. Not all Native nations ate buffalo. There weren't many buffalo on the east coast where the pilgrims were. :)

For some the main food was Salmon. For others it was wild rice. It just depends on the area the Native Nation was in.

My family ALWAYS has wild rice and fry bread on Thanksgiving.

Turkey is a Native food too though.

I think buffalo meat on Thanksgiving is a GREAT idea.... but as long as it's next to the turkey LOL!

Buffalo is really yummy, actually. They are finally being repopulated after their numbers were decimated by European settlers.

Doesn't American Thanksgiving have it's roots in the North Eastern States? Not too many herds of buffalo roamed the North-Eastern seaboard... buffalo were more indigenous to the plains.

Simple geography...

Well, traditional if your people come from the area that had and have buffalo. I think in the east, where Thanksgiving originated, probably had more deer, game birds, I've heard possibly lobster, etc.

Although buffalo is better for you compared to beef. ; )

Because the pilgrims hadn't got that far West yet. How many buffalo have you seen in New England?

Because many Europeans wanted to stay in Europe and not migrate to America. The majority of Africans in early times didn't come to the "new world" by choice. They were given a free ticket by evil slave traders. I would say, "poor Africans!"

Actually, it's impossible, as buffalo never lived wild in North America. It's Bison you are thinking of.
