If the Government decided to bring in legislation similar to having a Qualified Electrician installing our household items?
Could this be daft enough to happen in the future????????

This is the first year I will be alone at Christmas. My son will be spending Xmas Eve and Xmas day with his dad, and his dads family. Mostly because of financial situations, and I want this Christmas to be as normal as possible for my son. My new boyfriend has prior obligations with his family, and because of my work schedule I am unable to travel with him. Does anyone have any creative ideas on what to do, to keep yourself occupied? All I can think about are the normal traditions that l did leading up to Christmas and on Christmas day and am getting increasingly more depressed and bitter. I hate feeling this way and want to show excitement with my son for the holidays, but I just cannot find that spirit.

I'm a little confused. People are playing "My Favorite Things" from The Sound of Music around the holidays, but it doesn't talk about Christmas, and the movie isn't Christmas related... has the song somehow been co-opted as if it were talking about Christmas presents?

Normally each year, we do something small but nice. Volunteer at a soup kitchen, or like last year, we bought tons of presents, and dropped them off at women shelters.

I was thinking this year of helping at a food bank, but I would love other ideas. Something that 2 or more people can do together would be great!

Hello,

I'm looking for Christmas present ideas for my parents. I can spend around $50 to $100. They spend so much time being good parents that they don't have much in the way of hobbies. :) Last year I bought a gift certificate to a new restaurant they had wanted to try--that worked great, but I don't want to wear the idea out.

They are pretty practical people. If the gift has a reasonable use or purpose, it will be seen as "from the heart" etc. etc. I have a couple minor ideas. I'd like them to have the option of buying/receiving something they really want, but with the appropriate thought on my part. Gift cards are great, but this would seem to indicate that I'm going for value, not appreciation or thought.

Any ideas? Someone on another Answers thread mentioned a hot air balloon ride. This sounded interesting but I'd sure like to hear what others might recommend.

Maybe I'm trying too hard to find the right present....

Thanks

Our school is hosting a Drama/Speech tournament, and I'm assistant to one of the Chairmans. We each have our table for different purposes. What would be cute ideas to decorate for a "Christmas in the Tropics"?

If someone said, "I can give you anything you can possibly imagine for Christmas. Just name one thing and it's yours." What would you tell them you wanted them to give to you?

Personally, I'd ask for world peace.

What are the best (but easiest) kinds of food to prepare? And I've got no help, so what can I do to make sure everybody's well-fed and happy, but I still stay sane?! It doesn't have to be a sit-down lunch, and they probably won't all come at the same time.
