Normally each year, we do something small but nice. Volunteer at a soup kitchen, or like last year, we bought tons of presents, and dropped them off at women shelters.

I was thinking this year of helping at a food bank, but I would love other ideas. Something that 2 or more people can do together would be great!

Arrange for some entertaining show, and then after that gets over drop off some goodies and give them something to eat while they enjoy the show, say for eg, a musical play, a comedy play, or a movie, or some good music organised by a rockstar etc etc.

Get some toys and take them to children in a hospital so that you can actually see the smiles on their faces, or just give toys to random children on the street. I'd probably look for a woman who has a child at a bus stop. Waiting on a bus is always frustrating and this will make both parent and child happy. I bet they would never expect it!

I also think what you did with the women's shelters was a good idea. The women and children who are there are usually in very critical situations and need their spirits lifted in this way.

Wow, that's so nice. Elderly people at assisted living centers love to have folks come, visit and bring some holiday cheer. If you are musical, then sing some songs or just organize a little social party. Some of these people have no family to go to for the holidays and a lot of their friends have passed away.

Donate Blood at the Red Cross blood drive... Collect/distribute blankets to homeless shelters... If you want to do a "group" thing check out your local Jaycee or big brother/big sister groups... I'm a member of a sorority as an alumni we do philanthropies all the time all year ! We made and served dinner/dessert for the parents/children at Ronald McDonald House and we collect books for a literacy campaign at the local elementary school... We collect hats/mittens for underprivileged children... We also collect maternity clothes for woman's shelters AND we collect hotel mini toiletries to send overseas to the troops... As well as bring homemade desserts to local church soup kitchens AND shelters... If you can dream it you can do it....

Good luck
