Hello,

I'm looking for Christmas present ideas for my parents. I can spend around $50 to $100. They spend so much time being good parents that they don't have much in the way of hobbies. :) Last year I bought a gift certificate to a new restaurant they had wanted to try--that worked great, but I don't want to wear the idea out.

They are pretty practical people. If the gift has a reasonable use or purpose, it will be seen as "from the heart" etc. etc. I have a couple minor ideas. I'd like them to have the option of buying/receiving something they really want, but with the appropriate thought on my part. Gift cards are great, but this would seem to indicate that I'm going for value, not appreciation or thought.

Any ideas? Someone on another Answers thread mentioned a hot air balloon ride. This sounded interesting but I'd sure like to hear what others might recommend.

Maybe I'm trying too hard to find the right present....

Thanks

My sister just sent me a calendar that she made highlighting a recent San Francisco trip that the girls in our family took in October. I was really touched by it. It is filled with great memories of our time together and reminders of family birthdays and special occaisions are marked throughout. The time and thoughtfulness she put into it really makes it a great gift.

Your theme could highlight the things you appreciate your parents for.

If you aren't comfortable using the computer to create your own calendar, there are many businesses that will do this for you...costco and staples do.

If you feel you must spend more money than a calendar will cost, attach movie tickets or a gift certificate on months of their wedding anniversary and birthdays.

Check your state or neighboring state's website for "weekend getaway" packages.
A day at the spa (dad would like this too).
two tickets to a comedy club, concert, play etc.
These are just brainstorming ideas but you get the idea. Good luck!
