I've given my secretary one of the designer ham packages for years. While she always seemed appreciative, I'd like to switch to a grocery store gift card this year. Our company gave small ones out last year, and everybody talked about how useful they were. I'm not sure how much to give her though. It's a pretty big company, and she works for several people. I don't have control over her salary, and I guess you'd call me a middle manager. What kind of Christmas present and what value do you give your secretary?

I'm seeing them everywhere around town - hanging from ceilings and even on the floor in a tree stand - just upside down. Honestly, it looks really creepy, kind of like an upside down cross. What's the origin of this strange tradition?

I was wondering if anyone felt the same way that I do. It seems as I get older Christmas doesn't seem to have the same excitement that it used to. I remember as a kid loving the lights, the decorations, and anticipating Christmas morning.

Now it seems as though the holidays are just regular days. The Christmas spirit just doesn't really excite me anymore. You know, the stress of Christmas shopping, deciding who to spend Christmas with, worrying about spending $$$ on gifts for people.

Don't get me wrong its not all bad, I see Christmas for being more of a family and religious holiday rather than a social one. But that seems to be a little boring to me. Anyways what are your experiences?

My bf and I have been dating 3 years (we're both in our late 20s.) For the past 2 years he's gone home with me to visit my family (and didn't bring them gifts or anything). This year he's going home as am I, but I am flying to spend New Years with his family. I haven't sent them a gift yet and cannot decide rather to or not. I sent them a gift basket last year for and my guy didn't even get anything for my family as we opened presents on Christmas morning (and all of my family members got him something.) However, I was raised to "know better" than to show up empty handed. What should I do?

I've almost completed my Christmas shopping, and I was quite happy until this evening. I've been calm and collected throughout and have enjoyed myself, but now I'm finding that I'm cross with myself and others. What's going on?

I am helping my brother in law put together a Christmas party at his home. It's for the family (all adults) and his independent living administrator. We have hot drinks (no alcohol), snacks and music covered.
I was wondering about games. Can you share your opinions or suggestions for party games or Christmas party activities.

I live in a small Northern Ca.town, called Merced. The unemployment here is so low, the salvation army has to pay people to ring a bell during holidays, big shortage on volunteers. And when I turned in a 4 day old application in the beginning of this month to the police dept.for[ kids for tots],so my 3 young grandkids can receive some gifts. She returned the paper to me,and said were not excepting no more,we can only except for 500 children.Me and my daughter are on fixed incomes,so we can't afford gifts.I think its time to leave to somewhere like Az.where there are jobs,ect.. Do you agree?

To me, icicle lights should be a single color only-and preferrably white.
Have you seen the multi-colored icicle lights? Did you like them?

Subject: Let's Say Thanks

This is something that I received today and I sure think it is well worth the time to do. I sent a card and I hope you do too. I also am passing it on as I am sure that you will. Thanks for taking the time to say THANKS.

Something cool that Xerox is doing

If you go to this web site : http://www.letssaythanks.com/Home1024.html
you can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq . You can't pick ou t who gets it, but it will go to some member of the armed services.

How AMAZING it would be if we could get everyone we know to send one!!! This is a great site. Please send a card. It is FREE and it only takes a second.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers received a bunch of these? Whether you are for or against the war, our guys and gals over there need to know we are behind them...
