My sister-in-laws brother and wife are coming to our house for Christmas. I know her brother, but I don't know his wife very well. I know she is going though chemo right now. His family fights all the time during the holidays, so he wanted to celebrate somewhere else. I got him a gift I'm sure he'll like. But the problem is, I don't know what his wife likes and what she doesn't like.

I was thanking about getting her a gown, robe, and slippers. What do you think?

For example a 2008 big organizer book,, a banana rack holder, shower radio, knife set,,-- these are more like $3.99.. but if it looks nice, is it ok?
Last year i gave my cousin a nice 2008 organizer and calender from the dollar store, it said $20 on it and looked it..
His wife made a comment to me that she includes the gift reciept with every gift..and i should to.
isnt that rude?
and is it ok to to give gifts from the dollar store with no gift reciept?

Because it is not an official holiday, is your company giving you a 'free' holiday? Were waiting to hear back from head office about ours.

I know that we can not be racist but how come we always have to put out our customs behind others.

People of other cultures come to Australia, they choose to. If they are not Christian, we can not stop our Christmas celebrations, or make it ‘low key’ just because they are here.

Why do we have to do this?

Yes, as Christians we respect others, but when do we get to actually celebrate being Christian? If it is always seen as being racist then aren’t they accusing us of the same thing they are doing to us-not letting us celebrate our religion?

The pressure is on and stress on finances, time, relationships and THE family, often leave us with a problem or two pre-Christmas, on the Special Day and or post Christmas.

Reflecting on your ghosts of Christmas' past,
What are you going to do differently this year or have learned from another not to do?

Isn't Christ the reason why we have Christmas in the first place?

Obviously lots do, whether they are invited by a friend or their spouse celebrates it. But what about a person that just celebrates it because they like the holiday: trees, decorations, ect.
My neighbor is an Orthodox Jew and she celebrates Christmas alone, she says she dose because Christmas really came from Pagans/Druids ect and that Jesus really has nothing to do with Christmas.

And why does it seem to be OK for Jewish people to celebrate Christmas but it isn't OK for non-Jewish people to celebrate Hanukah.

I never hear Silent Night or Hark the Herald Angels sing on the radio. Just Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer and Rockin around the Christmas tree.

My aunt passed away this spring-she and i LOVED Christmas. I could go on and on about the memories. Her husband and sister ( my mom) have decided that since she isn't here, they aren't even going to acknowledge Christmas. My thoughts are--it;s even more the reason to celebrate-she loved it so much. We usually draw names, but this year I decided I'm going to get everyone something because that's what my aunt would have wanted. I also moved far away this year, so i won't even be around my family for the holidays. Any thoughts? Am I doing the right thing?
Thanks, guys!
