Because it is not an official holiday, is your company giving you a 'free' holiday? Were waiting to hear back from head office about ours.

Apparantly a lot are giving 'free' holidays but unfortunatly most customer serving based occupations aren't.

I work in a library and we're open - but not until 8pm like we should be! Finsihing at 4pm.

I don't really mind working Christmas eve - but it does seem a bit of a waste of time when it is a Monday!

My company always closes at lunchtime on Christmas Eve, although many people take it as a days holiday, especially this year with it being a Monday because we close all over Christmas. We only have to take a half day too which is generous. I never work on Christmas Eve as I'm normally collecting my turkey and getting in the shopping.

working...till 5pm or later...one year we had an ice storm on dec 24th and lost our electricity and phones about 2 pm, and the boss kept us there till 5 pm anyway-and we all work on computers! we spent 3 hrs sitting around in the dark, and by the time we got out, the roads were so bad, my trans-am could not make it up the road with all the ice, so i had to wait for a friend to come from 25 miles away in his 4x4 to pick me up-didn't make it home till about 8pm...the office had electricity and phones back the next day, we didn't get it back at home until after the first of the year...
