I fee that we have taken the meaning out of Christmas and made it to be more about materialize things and who will get me a expensive gift. Have we lost the true meaning of Christmas?

Last night my husbans and I went out to the mall to get some last miniute gifts for his family. I have a lready shopped for my family meaning my mom and dad and 4 sisters and also a few gifts for my mother in law. My mother in law has been divorced from my husbands father for over 14 years so my husband called and asked his mothers advice as to what to get his grandmother on his fathers side for christmas (she knows his grandmother very well they were close for many years) she gave some sugestions and asked where he was and he proceeded to tell her that her was shopping for hi s grandma and also his father and his father wife. Everything was ok and then he told her that the store that she requested a gift certificate was not in that mall and that becuase it was last miniute he may not be able to get it and he might just have to give cash. She flipped out and said you made an effort to get everyone elses gift and put the thought into them but not me. Ohh I don't want cash if you give me

I mean he delivers toys to all the good boys and girls. He delivers coal to the bad boys and girls. So what do you get for Santa Claus the man who is a jolly old elf?
What would Mrs Claus and elves get the man? I'm sure he does not need a gps. He has been making the trip for a couple hundred years now so I doubt he gets lost very often.
I'm sure he has had a laptop for years and years. How else would he keep his naughty and nice lists current esp with how many children he has to deliver toys to in one night?
Cell phone? I'm sure he has another way to keep in touch with Mrs Claus and the elves while he is gone.
So what are you getting for Santa this year besides milk and cookies? Besides after several plates of cookie and glasses of milk he is most likely full. lol

We have all at some point received a gift that we didnt like, or a gift that we already had or just had no use for...Am i right?
So do you keep it?

Return it or the cash or get something else that you do like/need?

In almost all of the Christmas movies i've seen, Santa whips the crap out of his Reindeer, and i'm almost positive he doesn't properly handle them during the off-time before and after Christmas. Reindeer need to roam, and he keeps them confined to his dwelling in the north pole. PETA WHERE ARE YOU??!?

My wife, and I can not agree. I say gift's from Santa should be wrapped. (Obviously different wrapping paper). My wife says they should not be wrapped if from Santa.

Please help. We have a 3 year old girl, what we do this year sets the tone for the remainder of her "Santa's real" child hood.
