For example, I once hiked into Grand Canyon one Christmas Eve day, and a few miles down the trail (the Hance Trail) we camped. The next morning, Christmas, we were hit with a blizzard, and had to hike our way back out in a blowing snowstorm. It was awesome, and I got some great photography.
Another Christmas we explored the ghost towns of western Nevada, and that Christmas Eve I won $20 on the nickel poker machine!

I am thinking of putting together personalized emergency kits for several couples on my christmas list (a tidy red box with self-charging flashlite, radio, water, food, and a folder for copies of important papers, etc.) Is this a nice gift or would you prefer something more like a book or bath soap?

Apparently some places in the UK have decided not to risk offending non-Christians this year and have invented a new festival called Winterval (maybe even the stamps to go with it!), which doesn't even hark back to the celebration's venerable Pagan roots.

Does anyone else think this is not only overly PC but also unfair on Christians; after all, we're not asking any other naturalised UK religions to banalise and overhaul their religious festivals, nor should we.

Myself and two other coworkers want to put our money together and puchase a gift my boss and his wife (both are at the office). Looking at about $100 or less from all three of us. My boss can buy anything - they have alot of money so I need something unique - possibly an experience. He is a rather large man and doesn't play golf. Thanks

What's a good Valentie's gift to bring to a gift exchange?
This group that I belong to meets every Wednesday and next month we're going to have a special "Christmas Party" on Decembrer 20th so we're going to do a gift exchange but I have to bring something in the $10 to $20 price range suitable for either genders. What should I take? What kinds of things are equally appropriate for both men and women other than booze?

My bf is not a materialistic person at all. He likes anything and everything. We were friends for so long before we started dating. What would be some great out of the ordinary gifts to give him??

We usually do a "secret santa" exchange at work. The only problem is that we don't know who will all be attending, and don't want to give a name and that person not show, like in the past. Do you have any ideas, other than everyone just bringing in a gift and putting it in a pile to pick from? We are an office of about 25 people. Thank you.

The whole story is, my small family has pretty much doubled in the last year. My parents, brother and I have always probably gone way overboard for Christmas, but now my brother has a small daughter and is dating a girl with three daughters, so there are five more people to buy for. I can't afford to do it as I always have and I'm sure money is tight for the rest of my family as well. So, I was trying to think of good ideas to still exchange gifts but not go so crazy at it. I need ideas!
I was thinking about still buying for the kids but for the adults suggesting a Secret Santa type exchange. Could anyone share the rules of that with me? I'd like to bring it up and organise it on Thanksgiving if possible so I need the info fast! Also, my bro's girlfriend's oldest is 14...should she be a "kid" or "adult"? The other girls are all under 8 but I'm wondering if the 14 yr old would like a more adult type gift. So any info on how a successful Secret Santa works or other gift exchange ideas?

Many thanks Liz and Peter..!!
