We usually do a "secret santa" exchange at work. The only problem is that we don't know who will all be attending, and don't want to give a name and that person not show, like in the past. Do you have any ideas, other than everyone just bringing in a gift and putting it in a pile to pick from? We are an office of about 25 people. Thank you.

Make a gift basket you can do
cheeses, crackers and those rolls of meat
Movie basket -2 movies, some popcorn and a few big boxes of candy(like the ones you get at the movies) you can now buy them at the stores.
Chocolate lovers basket just put a bunch of kinds of boxed chocolate candy in the basket
Candy lover basket is with different kinds of bagged candies.
That way you don't have to worry if a male or female gets your gift, it works with either one.
A fun thing to do is play Dirty Santa - first person picks a gift, next person in line can take a new gift or take the first persons gift-if they take the first persons they pick something new,3rd person can take person # 1or 2's gift or get a new one off the table - you do this till all gifts are taken and everyone has a gift.
Hope this helps.

We did an exchange last yr and we all would pick a name from a hat and it would be a secret from everyone.

It would be a total of 4 gifts. The first 3 are $5 gifts and that last one is a $25 gift. You would deliver one gift every week before the week was over so everyone would get a gift on different days.and the last gift you would all get together and exchange and find out whos been giving u gifts this whole time.

It would be like secret santa. You wouldnt know who was giving u a gift until the last exchange with everyoe.

Its fun just to be guessing and see there expression without knowing who gave it to u.

This is what we did last year. Everybody who wanted to participate brought a wrapped present to our holiday dinner. The value was around $20. After eating, the people who brought gifts drew numbers. There were just enough numbers for persons who brought a gift. The person who drew number 1 got to pick any gift from the pile and open it. The next person, number 2, either got to take person number 1's gift and force him to open another gift or pick an unwrapped gift. Person number 3 could choose from number 1 or number 2 or an unwrapped gift. And on and on until the very last person. The last person gets to choose from all the opened gifts and stick that person with the final unwrapped gifts or choose the unwrapped gift. It was pretty funny. And since the value of the gift was predetermined, everybody ends up with something worth the same amount. If you end up with a gift that doesn't suit you, you can always re-gift it. This was the frst time I had seen something like that and I thought it was pretty cool, it really brought the employees together.

We do a gift exchange leading up to Christmas. Everyone leaves a gift for their recipient in their box or on their desk once a day. We cap the money spent on each at $5.00-10.00. By the end of the week, no one should have spent more than $30. It makes the week fun, both getting the gifts and trying to figure out how to give yours without being caught.

At the end of the week we do a party where the secret santas are revealed.

A nice ornament is always a safe bet, that way it doesn't matter whether a man or woman gets it. Chances are the ornament will get hung on the person's tree, anything else is apt to find its way to the back of a cupboard or drawer.

When people do arrive, assign them a number. Make a list. When guests arrive with a present, have them draw a number out of the hat, check your list, and give their present to that person. Other than that, not much else you can do.
