I agree with you... I'm an atheist - I have no problem whatsoever with Christmas, or the name "Christmas" being used.
I choose to call it "Yuletide" though - not "Winterval"
That is just totally ridiculous. If they want to make Christmas secular, it would be better to actually name it after the original Pagan/Secular festival!
After all, "Yule" or "Yuletide" was really just celebrated by everyone to cheer everyone up at the , coldest time of year...
How can the celebration of a religious festival which celebrates LOVE and the birth of Jesus be OFFENSIVE? It's totally ridiculous!

I'm an atheist, so I am more interested in the ancient pagan roots of the holiday we take at the end of the yearly cycle.
Frankly, I think the term "winterval" sucks big time!! I dislike it intensly. But I then again I dont like Xmas either as it's totally pastic and a capitolistic invention to milk more money out of consumers.
The sad thing is the vast majority of people fall for the proganda. And as for offending christains, I'm mean please!! you cannot be serious? Most people in the UK ARENT christains, I suspect there are more people of islamic beliefs than christains now in this country.
**Call it a winter holiday or even a winter festival, anything but winterval YAK!!

I think this is rediculous. Of course, I am a christian but recently. My family was always non-religious and believing in the fun and characters of the holidays is so important to children. I hate this pc- obsessed world we are in right now. I am christian yes but I respect everyone elses's beliefs, religions, etc. I say leave everything the way it is and just respect non-believers' rights not to celebrate or to celebrate differently. It's more about the kids than being PC man!

The word Christmas means 'Christ's Mass', or the mass that is celebrated for the birth of Jesus Christ. It is a Christian Feast day, and a great time for celebration sharing and feasting. Western civilisation has primarily been built on Christian ethics and principles. Let us get rid of these PC people, and let all religions and people of faith celebrate their own feastdays. I do not believe for one moment that other faiths would object to Christmas being kept as Christmas. It is the PC brigade who keep pushing this. Those who are atheist have Yuletide or if they want to call it Winterfest or Winterval , let them. Please leave that which was the foundation of our society alone.

I'm dreaming of a white Winterval
With every Winterval card i write
May your days by merry and bright
And may all your Wintervals be white!
I don't think so!
I would always celebrate Christmas - even if it was only me.

Same thing happening here in Canada, I refuse to buy into it though. I WILL have Christmas this year and for many years to come. I also saw on the news that some of the very large retailers (ie Wal-Mart) are also returning to the Christmas theme as so many people are offended by all the PC BS.

I agree with you one hundred percent it is completely unfair. Here in the US everyone else complains that we discriminate against them. Excuse me but what is everyone doing to us? It is our holidays that get totally shut out. It is not right. I am tired of being PC. I am a Christian I believe in Jesus and on December 25 I celebrate his Birthday . If you don't like it then too bad! I have never asked you to stop believing in what you believe in and I even listen to your views. The only thing I have ever asked is that you understand I do not believe in the same things. It is not so hard to understand.

Christmas is such a positive festival, I don't know why people are suddenly worried it will offend anyone. How is the birth of Christ offensive to anyone? It's only offensive if you're King Herod!

It infuriates me (here in the uk). We are forever having to be careful not to offend other cultures which is fair enough. If we go to another country/culture we have to show respect. But other cultures come over here and continuously winge about ours. I'm getting proper miffed off with it lately. Merry CHRISTMAS everybody.

This is a Christian country, therefore anyone being allowed
the privilidge of living in G.B. should accept this and the
Christian way of life. If they are offended by our way of life they should bugger off back from whence they came!
