Did you ever genuinely answer a question for a person in need that had an innocent looking Avatar and user name to match then check back on them a week or two later only to discover their Avatar and user name changed to something evil and all was a hoax? How would you feel?

It is a school club about helping the charities in our community such as Food Drive or a Neighbourhood Office. What could be the possible name of the club or the different fundraisers? Maybe Movie Night, Guess the Number of.. ?... Please give ideas. Something that hasn't been thought of would be nice. That would get us money or items that could benefit the charities.

I am the co-president of a great club in my high school called "Smile Train", which is an extension of the organization itself. I was just looking for ideas, because our club, though growing larger slowly, is still small and sometimes the senior members (all seven or eight of us) have a hard time thinking of fundraising ideas for our little club. Most of the proceeds have to go to the organization (okay, all of them- I still have to check up on that) and we just really want to make a big difference on the school community and the town we live in. Thanks for any suggestions!

You know, like a board member of a community organization, a charity, an arts organization, etc.

Is there some sort of benefit besides "giving somethign back to the community?" Because it always seems to be people with "CAREER" on their minds.

I know there are probably more interesting questions out there but I would really appreciate your thoughts on this one.

I live in London and by chance just started volunteering for a charity which my mate works for, but he was telling me how hardly anyone really wants to volunteer and help out and the only people that do come forward are the usual twinset and pearls brigade.

I've never really given it much thought and I'm only volunteering myself at the moment to help a friend out but it got me thinking, is volunteering really that uncool? or deep down are most people (myself included) quite selfish with our spare time? and what would make make us want to volunteer more or at all?

I want to do something helpful for the elderly and my idea is to visit one person on a weekly basis and read the newspaper or some periodical to them and discuss with them, as a way to give them some social interaction if they are lonely. Do you think this would be a good idea as a charitable act and would the nursing home sallow that?
