hey, stop being boring , you lot! Spike's a great name, and it sounds cool. Luke is far too normal - there's so many of them around. Why not Luke for the middle name, then if he doesn't like Spike, he can go by his middle name. Don't be afraid to be different!

If those are the only choices, might I recommend Luke. It is a name that your child will not have to live down while growing up. Although you like Spike, imagine signing your name that way. Ever imagine president SPIKE? Doctor SPIKE? You can have your cake and eat it. If you named him Luke, you could always nickname him Spike.

I agree with u. Luke is a lovely name. When I heard spike it seemed more like a name for a dog. Sorry.

I'd go with Luke, Spike sounds like an animal's name. Luke is lovely though.

I think that Luke would be better because spike sounds like a dogs name

Um...how about neither. Why don't you run out to the bookstore and get a baby names book. "Luke" will be called "Luke Skywalker" or "Use the force, Luke" and "Spike" will just get beat up a lot in school and come to hate you intensely. So, unless you are a very avid Star Wars fan and/or want to invest lots of money in psycho therapy down the road, I suggest doing some reading.

Spike is a brill name!! Whatabout Spike as the first name, with Luke as one of his middle names? Spike conjours up a right little rascal with loads of personality. Whereas Luke, although being a perfectly nice name, is (in my opinion) just that - NICE. You don't say whether he is born yet or not. If not, why don't you wait a short while after he's born before deciding? You'll know within a day or two which name would suit him. Best of luck!

I like Luke. Like you said it's a lovely name. No offense but Spike kind of sounds like a name for a new puppy to me.
