I have an uncle in and out of prison. In fact he has been that way sense he was 13 and now he is 56. You need to call the prison directly, explain who you are in relation to your brother. State what he writes about. That would get the attention of the prison officials to watch for illegal action or be able to tell you if that could be money for a lawyer.
The biggest issue is asking him what the money is actually for. If he says lawyer, then YOU pay the lawyer directly. If he says it’s to buy him stuff like socks or pants, you can buy that for him. If it’s for the books so he can buy snacks from the machines. If he needs bathroom stuff like toothpaste and such, buy that for him yourself. If it’s for cigarettes, same there you can buy them yourself. If they use a pay phone often you can send him a role of quarters. The money may have a purpose. If that purpose if a way you can pay instead of him getting it first you can do that don’t let him say you have to send it to him only. Now here is one thing you may not realize too. If the money is his short cut to pay for his mistake to allow him to cut his prison term short, don’t. I know you probably love your brother, but if he did an action that needs a prison reality check. Then he needs that reality to. I pray never mess with drugs again. Also to be honest, If he is in a prison where he can still get drugs and alcohol that may be where the money would be going and that too would not teach him either. I just wanted to warn you because my own grandmother was the one my uncle called and wrote to allot. He would call her allot to ask for this and that. If the calls start coming and you want it to stop, call the prison directly. The prison can regulate whom they can and cant call.

he does not need 800 dollars he does however need shampoo soap and toiletries he can only get from there store as nothing is allowed from outside he needs like 80 bucks not 800
he may want some of the prison stores more expensice items liek video game sor whatever but that really defeats the purpose of being in prison
help him but dont let him use you
goto the prison for a vist and ask the guards how there prison store works for these items you may need to pay them and he makes purchases on credit from that money
until you know all the facts dont send anything

I know that all mail coming in and out of prisons is opened buy guards, read and inspected for any contraband maybe your brother isn't getting letters because the prison has kept them for some reason, if the guards find a letter with $800 in it that is going to look vary suspicious. they are only allowed money orders.

There can't be anything legal that he needs $800 for. Please don't send it to him. I think he is trying to pull a cover over your eyes. He HAS gotten the letters and the money and is trying to make you think he didn't so that you will send more. I agree with what some of the others have said on here....drugs, a hit, something like that. He can't be doing anything legal with that amount of money in prison. Take care of yourself and let the state you live in take care of him. He got himself into this...he will get out of it.

I am wondering what is he going to do with that kind of money . I know in the state I live in that the prison will not allow them to have more than 20 dollars so compare that to 800. Something is wrong

Do NOT Do It. He has NO NEED for that money. He has ZERO bills in prison. He doesn't accumulate any either. This money would be used for DRUGS. Drugs are a HUGE problem in prisons, and what he is doing is fairly normal, unfortunately. I suggest that you send his letter to the prison warden to alert them of the problem. They may not be aware. However, I can guarantee this is a drug problem.

I have a friend who had an extended stay at Huntsville women's prison. There was no money allowed in the prison. You could buy them a sort of prison credit that they could use to buy cigarettes and candy bars. But that's it.

Did he give you a booking #? $800 is too much though...he wont be allowed to have it all at once anyway. That's very weird...I think you should find out why he needs that amount first.

I'd say he's either buying cigarettes, drugs or hiring a hit on someone. There's nothing legal for sale in prison!

Poignantly written. that is of no solace to those for whom somebody has presently died, & sometimes i think i've got had greater effective than my proportion...the two youthful & previous, kinfolk, associates, enthusiasts & my husband over so few years. yet I easily have in no way, in no way lost them. they arrive to me on the main unpredictable circumstances. They constantly make me smile. sometimes I capture the fragrance of them, experience them finding over my shoulder & asserting issues that made me snort, & I snort lower back. They stay constantly in me. i'm satisfied for all of you who had a mom to love, that powerful time you spent along with her. She'll in no way "bypass away" you. a attractive & moving poem. For some reason, it is rather touching...possibly via fact that is from her viewpoint: "finding interior the reflect i will in no way overlook her asserting Oh my, i'm an previous lady, oh my whilst did that take place?"
