The only advantage of television is that sitting in your home, you see the world. Seeing is believing. You have proof of everything before your eyes. The same is the disadvantage. Too much of knowing is evil. You do not know the charm of mystery. Your imaginative faculty is lost due to long disuse. Seeing too much leads to disbelief every thing. You will not believe yourself and your own thoughts, unless you yourself appear in the television and your views are aired therein. Television viewing has become an obsession with many. We no longer love going out and seeing the world, through our own eyes, and not through the TV cameras. The younger generation does not know the pleasure of reading books. The passion for TV viewing is going to prove itself costly in terms of our physical and mental health. The society is going to suffer from a lack of a sense of belonging. In the traditional art form like drama, music etc will suffer due to lack of patronage. Sports will have no enthusiastic lovers to grow.

Not necessarily. I live alone at my home and I have many friends where I work. So, I don't know how television influences people there. Here in Brazil it is an important way of communication. Its advantages are fun, entretainment, companion. Its disadvantages are boring programs, many violences shown in some channels, and people forget to get out from home or talking with their relatives.
We need it., but sometimes is good turn it off and find someone to talk.

Disadvantages are book reading has gone., the children r not going out to play. talking with the family members gone to zero. It has become an addiction. Advantages r we can see the world and know the world just by sitting in our room.

Advantages: TV brings the world right into our living rooms. It's a source of knowledge, entertainment, etc.
Disadvantages: watching TV for long hours causes eye irritation. It's also responsible for modern day sedentary lifestyle, childhood obesity, etc.

Con.It is a baby sitter for some, most kids either sit and watch T.V for hours or sit in front of a game playing.all day.
Pro It allows people to see places and things never seen before and it fills some peoples day, the lonely.
My dad use to tell me about the radio back before T.V. was invented and how the family would sit together and listen.

TV can be educational, if you watch discovery channel, health channel, history channel, etc. Don't limit yourself to mindless television channels, and you'll be okay. Also, what is so corrupt about the food network? Other than it has a potential of making you fat, but I highly doubt it.

I don't watch TV, anymore. But I buy dvd's and watch them! I buy the one's I like!!
