We all know that HAPPINESS is the opposite of SADNESS.

Happiness pretty much needs to co-exist with sadness.

A poor person eating out of the trashcan everyday suddenly being served with smoked salmon with mash potatoe would be uttermost happy, while a rich person eating it everyday wouldn't give a damn.

A poor person winning a ten million lottery would be extremely happy, but if someone won lotteries everyday they wouldn't feel anything special.

That means that a constant repetition of an emotion, in this case happiness, renders the emotion voided.

If heaven is a place where there is only happiness and absolutely no sadness, happiness in heaven will be a contant repetition of a linear emotion. This will render the emotion (happiness) void.

Winning a tennis match in heaven won't make you happy, because you always win.
Eating pizzas everyday won't be special since you can have all you want.

If you understand the core of happiness, it can't exist in heaven.

I'm ready for Armegeddon, so we need more preaching work. The society explained every scripture in Revelation and Daniel, "the end of days" explaination of why we should tell everyone to go to the Kingdom Hall three times a week.Spend every minute of every waking hour to preach the good news of the kingdom as a witness TO THE NATIONS, then the end would come. There are billions of people who aren't making it to 20 years of age before they die of something and they've never heard of Jehovah. Why can't you send all the government heads a post card that Jehovah's people are going to inherit the earth or something? My whole childhood was consumed with learning the bible so I could preach the word to everyone, let them know Jesus is coming to wipe out the wicked and all earthly governments. The more I study history, the more it seems it will repeat itself for 5,000 more years. I could have been a doctor, why do Jehovah's Witnesses still discourage college education? 93 years away from 1914

...individuals coming from different backgrounds. Not all of us approach our faith the same way, not all of us feel led to beat you over the head with a Bible? It seems like believers, in particular - Christians are generalized routinely on this forum. As if we are all just one stereo type. Not all non-believers are the same... from agnostics to atheists. Not all are bitter or "damaged". If I can acknowledge that, couldn't non-believers acknowledge the same as to Christians?

"The existence of the afterlife is not stated explicitly in the Torah itself, because as human beings we have to focus on our task in this world. Though awareness of an eternal reward can also be an effective motivator."

So what does that tell you about the New Testament? Could it be just man made fiction?

So many theist get angry that there are atheist in the R&S section, but these same people will often insist that atheism is a religion. So, using the theist logic, atheist can't be in R&S because we don't believe in god, and god is part of religion. So, people who don't believe in god can't be religious. However, they believe that atheism and evolution are godless religions, but we should not *invade* the R&S section with our godless ways. Is that right?

A lot of times I see people claiming that you have to believe in whatever god/goddess etc. that they do or you don't get to go to Heaven (or their version of it). Do you (people that do this) realize that no human being can change a belief just because they want to? You can't force yourself to think differently, usually until you see a reason or proof (and usually reading the Bible or other book is not seen as proof).

Here's an example: "There are really unicorns, they live in the desert around my house. You have to believe in them or my Creator will string you up from the ceiling with floss. So change your ideas right now because it's the right thing."

Let me guess, you still don't believe in unicorns? That is because you can't force yourself to change a belief-- if it happens, it does, and if not it's no fault of your own. So please don't say that we need to change our beliefs, because we just can't. It's not human nature, the brain just wasn't built like that.

Thoughts?

Most of them spend their time either:

> adapting their own lives in a vain attempt to be more godly or,
> picking apart the lives of other people by trying to convert them or condemn them

Could the simplest way to help cure someone of religion be to foster their own personal sense of well being i.e. tell them to get a life instead of living someone elses?

..believe in a supernatural being, or is that they believe in believing?

Think about it. If religious people really believed the things they claimed they believed, would they live their life's the way they do?

I am an Atheist. I know that as Atheists we are not supposed to bash people for their beliefs in religion. Anyway, I get very irritated when I hear people talking about their beliefs in a certain god. I usually respect peoples beliefs, but when it comes to religion I can't hold back the fact of trying to disprove their beliefs. Am I a bad Atheist?

The End Is Near

A priest and pastor from the local parishes are standing by the side of the road holding up a sign that reads, "The End is Near! Turn yourself around now before it's too late!"

They planned to hold up the sign to each passing car.

"Leave us alone you religious nuts!" yelled the first driver as he sped by.

From around the curve they heard screeching tires and a big splash.

"Do you think," said one clergy to the other, "we should just put up a sign that says 'Bridge Out' instead?"
