He makes comments about my own dad, whom he calls "smooth" because he is very polite & diplomatic, unlike himself who is like a bull in a china shop, always calling my neighbors "a**holes" because they parked too close when he comes over or something. He constantly spews uneducated comments such as, "I wish no one spoke anything but english in public because they might be saying something about me." I have been married to his daughter for nearly 9 years, but he has always been insincere, brutish, vaguely rude, aloof, unfriendly, and makes comments that appear as though he is jealous of my dad who is quite educated although is quite up in years now.

There are a lot of books/articles titled, "The Care and Feeding of _____." It seems like a reasonable title for a book that talks about raising livestock, but it's often used in conjunction with roles ("the care and feeding of husbands" or "the care and feeding of executives") or even inanimate objects ("the care and feeding of books") Is there one book in particular that popularized this terminology and led to its usage in other arenas?

I'm curious, as this is a question that mainly confronts so-called religious people. Many innocent people have been put to death, and now thru DNA we are finding a lot more. Did Jesus not forgive the woman taking in adultary, a Capital offence? Did Jesus not tell us to love our enemies and do good to those who would do us harm? HE, himself said that only a person without sin should cast the first stone. How many executioners qualify? Also , when invaded Jesus tells us that if we are forced to walk 1 mile with the invader, we should walk 2. When an invading army was passing through, they would force the locals to carry their equipment for a certain distance. Nowhere does Jesus say to take up arms and kill them. Christianity is a hard road to follow, but selecting what you want to take from it is hypocritical. If we break one part of the law, are we not guilty of breaking it all?

Christian focus should stay on God, not doing busywork and tasks at a church to please the pastor and replace righteous work for Jesus in the community and home. Some churches demand so much it detracts from thinking about God's word. It can be a diversion from realities of life.

I enjoy giving presents, so much so that I give them at random times during the year, or when I think people need some cheering up. For instance this one girl mentioned that she misses salt water taffy since moving up, so I found this store that sold it and got it for her. or when this girl was going on a trip to Portugal, I found this 200 year old map of Portugal and got it for her before she left.

The thing is, I am not interested in these girls, I just like giving presents. I am starting to think that girls may get the wrong idea, I really hope this isn't the case, I've been doing this for years, but I am startign to think it is, which would be a shame if it's true, what do you think?

that before Darwin's time, everything was the result of god? But then, after the idea that evolution (still frowned upon by many for no reason) existed, poeple said "Oh, evolution was god's idea." That makes me want to just yell all day.

I can honestly admit that THAT is a very narrow-minded thing to say. Religion has absolutely nothing to do with evolution, but people still try to involve a god in every single minute thing in life, but then try to say that there's nothing violent about it when the christian religion has the bloodiest history over the lifetime of the earth.

I have believed in evolution since I was literally in 1st grade, and never heard of a god until I was 12 years old, when someone threw a bible at me because I never heard of a god.
Why is the name "god" involved with every miniscule thing in life?

Okay, so you get the Jehova's Witness version, the LDS version, the KJV, various 'youth' and 'modern language' translations, the Catholic Bible, the Good News Bible, the NIV... what are the pro's and cons of each? Which do you use and why?

If we are not to doubt God's word (ie: Creationism), then why does He allow us to believe in things that challenge his word (ie: Evolution?) Is it just a test from Him, or is is something that he is allowing to slip, so long as we still believe in Him??

Basically, is God a mean kid with a magnifying glass pointed on our ant hill called life???

There has been evidence that before the flood there was technology that has ben found dated back before the flood, that we can't figure out today, like metal, we can't figure out the properties to. I googled it, but couldn't find any good link, anyone know of any good links with some good technology???
