Dr. Johnson: I'll do the operation myself.
Uncle Chris Halverson: I'll watch.
Dr. Johnson: [exasperated] You will do no such thing, sir!
Uncle Chris Halverson: Always I watch operation. I'm the head of the family.
Dr. Johnson: I allow no-one to attend my operations!
Uncle Chris Halverson: Are so bad?
(It's a wonderful play!)

What have you personally experienced in/as a part of your religion (or lack thereof) that makes you believe as you do? No quotes of any kind here, please, just your personal stories. (Big emphasis on the story here. Doesn't matter if it was a huge revelation or something just clicked--I want to hear the story.)

I'm highly curious as to what makes people tick, and why someone follows a religion is a big part of that!

Is there some requirement that "believers" not be able to spell nor post in standard English? Is ignorance as requirement of christianity?

of course i know it is wrong to murder a human, and it also seems that abortion is wrong in the eyes of God, so i was wondering(stupid question probably but i was interested!), what about animals? Is putting an animal to sleep wrong. i know it may be suffering, but isnt taking life-taking life? I am not talking about killing animals for food either.

Hope my rambling question makes sense!

A few years ago Yorkshire Arts advertised meetings for a black women writers group. Nobody turned a hair or thought of this as strange.
But what if someone started up a group for white women writers ?
Then what????
I wish to offend no-one by this question - I wouldn't willingly hurt anyone's feelings. But surely this kind of thing shouts loudly 'double standards'!

NB I do not know whether this particular group is still in existence, or still connected to Yorkshire Arts.

Im a Christain right now and I believe In Jesus and what he did and that he is the only way and I have been a christian since I was a small boy but now were studying Buddhism in world history and im learning SO much about Buddhism and it has a lot of the same basic principles about how to live your life and Buddhism makes SO much sense to me. Buddhism doesnt worship the statue of Buddha, they worship one All Powerful god just like Christianity but they just put a statue of Buddha in there house as a symbol of joy, happiness, and wisdom. And I was going to convert to Zen-Buddhism, they have all the same beliefs as regular Buddhists but they believe that once you live a few lives and after a few reincarnations and moving closer to god adn becoming one with god that there's a heaven after that happens instead of just being freed from the reincarnation cycle (kinda like Christianity except with reincarnations). Should I just convert to Zen-Buddhism or what? I dont no what to do!!! HELP!!!

"Quiet, please, quiet! Well, sir, here we are again. We've had quite a time of it lately, but it seems that the worst of it is over. Course, the fireworks all blew up, but we can't very well blame that on you. Anyway, everything's turned out fine, as it usually does. Alice is going to marry Tony; Mr. Kirby, who's turned out to be a very good egg, sold us back our house - he'll probably forget all about big deals for a while. Nobody on our block has to move; and, with the right handling, I think we can even thaw out Mrs. Kirby here. We've all got our health; as far as anything else is concerned, we still leave that up to you. Thank you. Bring it on, Reba! "
( NOT homework,,,just fun.)

I'm a FEMALE to MALE transsexual. I was born a GIRL and I am now becoming a MALE (usually people get this confused because when they hear "transsexual" they automatically think it's a guy who got his stuff chopped off) that is not the case with me. I was born a GIRL and I've been on hormones ONLY..no surgery as of yet, but I'm VERY passable. I don't want to be seen as a "butch lesbian" anymore, and I'd REALLY like to date a straight woman, who may see me as more of a man than I think a lesbian would..but how do I explain the whole transsexual thing to a straight woman who thinks I'm a natural born male with a penis? Is having a penis really THAT important to being a "man"? Seems to me, character would be more important, cuz I ALWAYS hear from girls about how much of a jerk their man is, and well, me, coming from a female perspective, I think I know how to treat a girl...I just can't get them past the "ewwness" of my condition. Any suggestions?

No offense Mr President.
The book of Daniel says the "ships of Chittim" will come to
Babylon in the last days.
The Chittim were the descendants of the Atlanteans, the Red peoples, who migrated to the Americas.
Bible "scholars" say they don't know who the Chittim are.The
dictionary says chittimwood is a type of American wood.
The U.S. is the Chittim.

For me it means that they follow the bible in it's entirety...not picking and choosing and that they walk their talk. I believe that the Amish ppl are a good example of true chrisitans and I wonder why all christians aren't like them.
