1) Christians beleive that Jesus is the Messiah; the Jews are still waiting for the Messiah
2) Christians beleive that God is a Tri-unity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit; the Jews think that is blasphemy
3) Christians beleive that the Church is the New Israel of God; the Jews think that they are the only Israel of God

These are 3 of the major differences between Christians and Jews. The are others of less import.

You're right that Jesus was a Jew. In fact, Jesus was an orthodox Jewish settler from the West Bank.

Christianity is a distinct religion that grew up among non-Jews but based on what Jesus taught.

Jesus was a Jew. He revolted against the jewish political and social leadership of his times who used to crush the poors and the working class (mainly fishermen) in Israel and Palestine then occupied by the Romans.
He managed to gather around him those poors, and to preach a behavior of tolerance and pardon.
This trend indexed and written under the New Testament (as opposed to the Bible-the Old Testament) became the guidelines of a new political order (the Church).
Meanwhile Jesus disciples went preaching East and West, and the biggest achievement of Peter was to make the capital of the occupying empire, Rome, the city of the christian empire (The Vatican HQ of the Church).

Farkas419 got the basic right answer thoug ther is a bit more to it...answerer ansk dose not understand what a Christian is. A Christian is one who has ome to God in The Way He proscribes and had received His free gift of Salvation. Prayer and Baptizim come after Salvation. Those who have come to God in The Only Way that he provides become one of TheBody of The Church of which Jesus The Christ is The Head. These are the ones of The True Christian Faith... There are far more who think they are christians that there are those who Truely are. I too have not given all the facts but space here is limited and this is not the proper forum for lengthy statements. You ay email me if you have a ny questions concerning the basics of The True Christian Faith.

Christianity is the most in-your-face case of religion-hijacking in all of history. "Christians" took the Jewish religion, combined it with pagan miraculous and theological elements to produce a hybrid "state religion" for a Roman audience, and proceeded to persecute Jews and pagans alike for not joining in. Now that's what you call audacity.

But don't take my word for it - simply study some honest history. The Jesus story is nice, but it was better the first few times around when he was known as Mithras, Attis, Adonis, Osiris, Dionysus, etc etc. There are literally dozens of pre-christian legends of a savior born of a virgin who performs various miracles with wine and fish before being slain violently on a tree, usually with associated "eucharist" symbolism and ritual. Christians have long realized the potential for embarassment from these facts, to the effect that early church leaders were already inventing theology about how Satan went back in time and altered the historical record in order to deceive the faithless - the same argument now used to account for dinosaur fossils.

But the Jews - including Jesus - got the real raw deal here. Jesus, the first century Jew, must still be spinning in his grave to contemplate all the pagan legends that have encrusted him, for which his own people have been slaughtered for 2 millenia - in his name.

Christianity basically is just another branch of Judaism, Christianity is based on Judaism. The major difference is that Jews do not believe in Jesus being the messiah, Christians do.

Judaism is more than a religion; it also encompasses a heritage and its own very unique culture. One can convert to it, but only after much study and work. Christianity, though it came from a Jew, is a different matter altogether; depending on the branch of Christianity, all it takes to become a Christian is a prayer and/or baptism.

The Seal of The Messianic Church

EVIDENCE THAT THE EARLIEST CHURCH IN EXISTANCE WAS JEWISH

One of the strongest evidences for this is the presence of many artifacts, clay pots, and lamps, which are engraved with what has come to be called the SEAL OF THE MESSIANIC CHURCH.

The seal has been copyrighted as " Seven Branched Candelabra/Star of David/Fish"

A book entitled "The Messianic Seal of the Jerusalem Church" by Reuven Efraim Schmalz and Raymond Robert Fischer has been published (Olim Publications, P.O. Box 2111,Tiberias, Israel.

Top of Seal see the Seven Branch Candelabra that stood before God in the Temple.

Below that, see the Star of David, which is from the 7th century BC. It is composed of two interlaced, equilateral triangles or DALTHA (D for David). "A star shall come forth from Jacob, and a scepter shall rise from Israel" Numbers 24:17.

Below the star is a fish which is an early Christian symbol in Israel. It was transported to Rome, and by 150 AD. Clement of Alexandria suggested to all his readers that they include the sign of a fish in their personal seals to identify them as Christians. Later the Greek spelling for the word fish ICHTHUS was incorporated. The first five letters of the words that spell "Jesus, Christ, God, Son, and Saviour."

In the Messianic Seal, the cross appears as the Hebrew letter TAW.

The artifacts were discovered in 1990 by Tech Oteeoos, a 90 year old Greek Orthodox monk, in the vicinity of the, what is believed to be, the original Church founded and pastored by James the Just, the half-brother of Jesus. When the actual grotto was excavated by Oteeoos, numerous inscriptions were found on the walls. The period of its use on Mount Zion could only have been from the crucifixion in 30 AD to 135AD.

Jews generally do not believe that Christ was the Messiah whose coming was prophesied in the Old Testament. There are what are known as "Messianic" Jews, who do believe that, but most Orthodox Jews do not.
Christians believe that the only way to God, and to Heaven, is through Jesus Christ.

The Jews are still looking for their Messiah, we know He has already come. The Jews still keep the law of Moses, we don't. A true Christian will still keep the laws of God. They have not been done away with as Satan would have us to believe. Because if God could suspend with or do away with His laws then there would have not been a need for Jesus to die for us, it would have been a hollow and meaningless sacrifice. If God' law could have been done away with there would not be any sin. Because with out the law there is not sin. But because of the law we know sin.
