I'm being baptized tomorrow, and I've been encouraged to say something, but I can't think of any quotations or scriptural passages that really fit how I feel about it. Any ideas?

Many people feel that the world consists of men, and women..only. People insist that IF there are variations, they must exist between these two polar points.

That isn't necessarily true. I'm posting this question here because it is a question I didn't even realize I could ask a few years back. I thought I either had to be between or that there was something wrong with me. I took a Sociology of Gender Class (Soc 218) and the whole world came into perspective.

I would like to hear your opinions on this matter, as well as to encourage you to visit Gender Schmender, a gender education community born during that Sociology class.

Pope Benedict XVI statement stopped short of the apology demanded by Islamic leaders around the globe, and anger among Muslims remained intense.

What do you think anger would remain intense or accept indirect apology ?

He brought so many of them into the Vatican before he was Pope that the Swiss Guard prohibited him from bringing in any more because they were making a mess.

Does knowing this affect your opinion of him?

to christians: you preach love and say christianity is about tolerance, since jesus has told u to give ur next cheek to the slapper... but what happened to that love and tolerance when u heard pope comments? almost all of u agreed whole-heartedly that he is right. sup with that?

Whatever he thinks or You think of other religions. you cant give controversial statements and create another religious mess around the world, does pope want more blood and chaos than we already are in?? I think thats a sign of dying love and tolerance. Isnt it?

do u even know what ur believing in?

If he knows of the slaughter and destruction caused by the Crusaders in the 13th century, why would he use a quote by a 14th-century Byzantine emperor calling Islam “evil and inhuman.” The Arabs haven't forgotten -- how on earth could the Pope have "forgotten?"

I'd call it a case of "the pot calling the kettle black."

Ask yourself this: what would happen if the 1st was ever overturned and organized prayer was brought into public school?

These would eventually happen:

A Catholic teacher tells a class that the Catholic Church is the only One True Church - everyone else goes to hell.
A Methodist teacher prays for people to learn to accept gay people and let them marry.
A Wiccan teacher leads an invocation to the Goddess.
A Baptist teacher tells the class that all Catholics are going to hell for following the False Prophet (the pope)
A Muslim teacher reads a prayer from the Quran.
An Atheist teacher teaches the class that Jesus is a myth.

Theists would go APE-****!

To any religious person who wants the 1st Amendment overturned to get prayer in schools or to create a Christian nation, all I have to say to you is this:

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR.

About the only safe people would be the agnostics. We’d get some popcorn and beer, sit back, and watch everyone try to kill each other.

A lot of people in the Western world question whether Islam teaches it's followers to be cruel and violent and wage war on non-Muslims. I have given this question much thought and I believe there is only one true answer to this question--it depends on who is doing the teaching.

The Koran, like the Bible is full of contradiction. Those who wish to use the religion for evil purposes will emphasize the bad stuff. Those who wish to use it for good will emphasize the good stuff. One cannot simply peg Islam as evil because any religion can be used for evil purposes.

What's your opinion? Any ideas to add?

I hope this helps:

I used to smoke weed and get drunk and look for sex and basically chase pleasure until my 2nd year at UGA.
I'll make a long story short: Now I believe that living life according to Jesus's teaching (found in bible) is the only way to find out who you are--He will show you--we can never find out who we are if we all get caught up in the momentary pleasure.....

good luck all... and all responses welcome....cya

They use this as an excuse to continue to live in whatever sinful lifestyle they want unrepentantly because they think that all they have to do is believe that Jesus is who he is and that that alone is what will save them. Bullsh*t.

This makes Christians look bad to non-Christians.

Plus nowhere in the bible does it say that we only need "faith alone".

In fact the only place in the bible that the words "faith alone" are, the words "not by" are right in front of it.

Here is proof:

"You see that a man is justified by works and NOT BY faith alone." (Emphasis added) -James 2:24

Faith plus Works. This is what is in the bible and what Christians have historically known is true.

You agree with this?

Mary had a little lamb,
His fleece was white as snow.
And everywhere the children went,
The Lamb was sure to go.

He followed them to school each day,
Twasn't even in the rule.
It made the children laugh and play.
To have the Lamb at school.

And then the rules all changed one day,
Illegal it became;
To bring the Lamb of God to school,
Or even speak his Name.

Everyday got worse and worse,
And days turned into years.
Instead of hearing children laugh,
We heard gun shots and tears.

What must we do to stop the crime,
That's in our schools today?
Let's let the Lamb come back to school,
And teach our kids to pray!

Do you ever feel like trading places with your mate or other male? Maybe as revenge or punishment or it's just a turn-on for you. Do you ever fantasize about strapping on your favorite toy and teaching him a lesson, showing him who's boss and who wears the panties? Is it just a fantasy or have you done it?

Do they enter into the heaven of God together with the 144000 in the future? Because the bible said that they didn't enter into Cannan Land, only the new generation with Joshua and Caleb enter into Cannan.
