To quote the Catechism of the Catholic Church, "...by the consecration of the bread and wine there takes place a change of the whole substance of the bread into the substance of the body of Christ our Lord and of the whole substance of the wine into the substance of his blood."

It seems to be the Roman Catholic position that this sacrament is not merely symbolic, but that the substances involved undergo a real (if invisible) transformation into flesh and blood. But if they are REALLY flesh and blood, doesn't that make all Catholics cannibals?

Lets try to leave aside, for the moment, the question of whether all the other denominations that participate in symbolic cannibalism are also symbolically guilty of it.

Okay, so the title was a little bold and rash, but it was the only way I could put it. Everywhere I go I see that Americans are branded as a whole, rather than individually. Yes, I'm an American, but does that mean that I'm lazy and obese? Just because some people in our country are a bit over the top with the "America is #1!" (sorry, but it's really not. Look at how we treat the people in this country, and then look at other places in the world, we're way down on the number list.) doesn't mean that everyone is like that. Just because our government decided to go to war, doesn't mean that we agree with that. I'm just wondering why people are still doing that, can't I travel and have people like or dislike me because of how I act rather than where I'm from?

If you knew the Bible like I know it, you would understand that the greatest minds in the world could never even come close to making up a book like this. If you knew how many people did write it, over how long a period of time, and how after it was all put together it has a scarlet thread running throughout it that could never have been planned by the smartest book editor on earth. I challenge anyone to prove the Bible isn't true.

I know I might not get many answers to this, but I was wondering if anyone had read this book and what they thought of it as a satire?

Here are some quotes to help out:

"Now we've got a truth to die for!"
"No. Men should die for lies. But the truth is too precious to die for."

"The figures looked more or less human. And they were engaged in religion. You could tell by the knives (it's not murder if you do it for a god)."

"All holy piety in public, and all peeled grapes and self-indulgence in private."

"The trouble with being a god is that you've got no one to pray to."

There's this tv station I watch that, when it's programming is over, shows a continuous feed of a program called "Earth TV".
The program consists of worldwide weather forecasts and video of towns and cities around the world. Apart from the obvious major cities and towns, it always shows video of a place called Beaver Creek.

Apart from the funny name --snigger, snigger -- what the heck is Beaver Creek's claim to fame?

Seems to me that The Catholic Church is the one TRUE church founded my St. Peter as a direct result of Jesus Christ, heck founded by
Christ Himself. Thats not good enough for everyone else? It seems as if others have taken the bible and corrupted it for their own means, changing what they didnt like and interpreting it to fit their beliefs.
So what do you non Catholics have to say for yourselves?

To have a physical mark does not make sense. I would think that the devil is smarter than that. How can you worship the devil knowing that he is the devil. But, if he makes you think that he is someone else, let say Jesus, than the mark would be in your forehead, in your mind.
Rev. 13:11
Think about it.

There's a lot of controversy over whether men should wear Speedos or boardshorts in public. Most of the bias against them appears (IMHO) to center on rampant American male image insecurities and free-floating homophobia. Assuming that fat, out-of-shape bodies are aesthetically repulsive wearing tight swimsuits (and accepting the obverse assumption that a tight, physically fit body looks good in one), what do women REALLY think about this? It's hard enough to read a woman's mind in most cases, but I'd be interested in hearing a range of subjective opinions on this from the XX gender (that's "XX" chromosomes to you!). Asked by "Bored with boardshorts". Thang-gue.
