could it be because there was not sufficient knowledge to safely prepare these foods?
could it be to separate the people (want to come over for dinner? what are you having, pork, no thanks)
could it have been to show the separation on God's chosen people and then when Jesus died for all sins it was abolished as a sign that All people (through Christ) can be God's chosen ones now (spiritual Isreal)?
