could it be because there was not sufficient knowledge to safely prepare these foods?
could it be to separate the people (want to come over for dinner? what are you having, pork, no thanks)
could it have been to show the separation on God's chosen people and then when Jesus died for all sins it was abolished as a sign that All people (through Christ) can be God's chosen ones now (spiritual Isreal)?

very good peter, but God was using one truth to illistrate another, or else the connectrion could not have been logically made.
It is not stated as any type of lesson. And Peter recognized it.

Some of it was dietary in the sense of safety, but some of it was spiritually symbolic.

In the book of Acts 10:9-16 Peter had a vision from God. This vision seems to indicate that not only were all foods now declared cleansed by God and good for eating, but it also had to do with the grafting of the Gentiles (the wild branches) in with the Jews (the natural branches) to receive the promises of God through salvation. In the same book, chapter 10:35 says, "But in every nation whoever fears(reveres) Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him."

Furthermore, in Romans 14:14 Paul states, "I know and convinced by the Lord Jesus that there is nothing unclean of itself; but to him who considers anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

'Yet if your brother is grieved because of your food, you are no longer walking in love. Do not destroy with your food the one for whom Christ died.

"Therefore do not let your good be spoken of as evil.

"for the Kingsom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Skipped vs 18 and 19

"Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All things indeed are pure, but it is evil for the man who eats with offense.

"It is good neither to eat meat nor drink wine nor do anything by which your brother stumbles or is offended or made weak.

"Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves.

"Now he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin." Romans 14:14-23

This is saying that Paul believes all food is cleansed and pure, but what we eat in freedom of conscience may be a huge problem for someone else. That doesn't mean permanent dietary changes for you, but if you invite someone to dinner and you know they are offended by certain foods, eat only what is not an offense to them while they are with you.

It's good if you are not condemned by your approval of all foods, but be sensitive to others who may not be where you are at. Don't make someone feel forced to eat what they feel wrong about eating.

THE DIETARY LAWS WERE AND STILL ARE IN EFFECT FOR ALL PEOPLE NOTICE THE DECIPLES NEVER EAT ANYTHING UNCLEAN IN THIS QUOTE THE VISION WAS ABOUT THE UNCONVERTED KNOWN AS GENTILES.:
Ac 10:10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,
Ac 10:11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:
Ac 10:12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
Ac 10:13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.
Ac 10:14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.
Ac 10:15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
Ac 10:16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.
PEOPLE BELIEVE THIS IS ABOUT THE MEAT LAWS BUT LOOK THE INTERPETATION IS IS JUST A FEW VERSES AHEAD IN VERSE 28:
Ac 10:28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath showed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.
YES THE MEAT LAWS ARE STILL IN EFFECT TODAY AS IS ALL OF GODS LAWS

God had nothing to do with it. They were smart enough to know that bad food killed people. The ofdd thing is now that we are able to preserve foods so they won't go bad as soon, and there is no longer any valid reason for retaining the behavior, these people will still forever deprive themselves of a big fat slab of baby backs or a gravy smothered pork chop.

If I live to be a million, I will never understand the mind of a true believer.

All gods are created by men. They and the religions around them suit weak slave minded type cowardly people that are not very bright. They do not want to face reality and the world as it is scares them so they find comfort in fairytales that ease their fears. The most destructive religion is christ insanity. The most dangerous people to our White race are jews. Christ insanity is a perfect religion to have your enemies buy into. That is why jews created it and promoted it to us. It is a destructive religion. Potent poison. It protects and helps "the chosen ones" (self chosen)though. Yes you know who are your true rulers when you know who you are never supposed to critisize. Nevermind the visible pawn leaders. Think who controls our religious ideology (they created it) & thus concepts of right and wrong. Who rules the media, education, fianance, miseducation & gov? Who cares what the fairytales say about jew diet? oh yea you!

Health reasons is my best guess. Your last statement could be true, as well.

I'm not sure where (chptr, vrs) but I recall that the New Testament states that all foods are now ok, but that we should not correct or contradict those who follow the old law, and cause them to stumble (in their faith).

WOW that is the lamest thing I ever heard. That is a typical Christians problem. They have to justify their precious New Testament no matter how little they actually know on the subject.

i think for a few reasons. One is to be a stronger healthier nation and another reason to show separation to other nations just like you said.

no -- god gave us the laws because he saw our adherence to them as a way of bringing us closer to him. we are not to try and fathom the reasons or rationalize our way out of them, just obey them. Nothing has been abolished -- the laws are eternal.

back then, there was no FDA for meat, and undercooked pork has worms, blood carried disease. I think it was precautionary, but now, everything is okay....they just like to keep up the tradition.
