The Bible is the Inspired Word of God.
I have read nothing about Oral rumors to follow.
No. I didn't "learn" about Jesus orally, first.
I learned OF, Jesus first.

Because when something is written it stays that way forever but when things are spoken they constantly change because of interpretation and exaggeration-- ie the fish Joe caught was 6 inches but 3 years later it was 6 foot. The point you just made (about the bible being oral before it was written) is the reason why many Christians begin to doubt that it is real because there is no way to say that the fish got bigger before the book was written. Oral tradition is great but should always be backed up with the written as to ward off confusion and misinterpretation.

It's true that some Christians only believe in the Bible. I think this is due to a overally dogmatic interpretation of the Bible. But the fact is, all truth is Gods truth. Truth can be found outside of the Bible as well. It may not be Biblical truth, but it IS God's truth. The Bible does not have answers for everything..such as when dealing with complicated medical dilemmas, etc. But I think that the real question to ask is "how do we decifer the truth from the non?"

The written word keeps us from falling victim to powerful cults like Catholicism, and Anglicanism as in the past when we had no Bible. Tradition can be changed. There are too many Bibles out now-the written word can not be erased.

You are correct (sort of); not all truth is written in the Bible, but all truth must not contradict the truth that is in the Bible. Therefore, the Bible is our guide that we must measure all "claimed truth" found in traditions by. If we have "truth" from our "oral tradition" that conflicts with the truth that is written in the Bible, one of them has to be wrong. If God contradicted Himself, His kingdom could not continue.
"Jesus knew what the Pharisees were thinking, so he said to them, 'Every kingdom that is divided against itself will be destroyed. And any city or family that is divided against itself will not continue.'" (Matthew 12:25 NCV)
As for church tradition, Jesus had someting interesting to say about that:
"'And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men, the washing of pitchers and cups, and many other such things you do.' He said to them, 'All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition.'" (Mark 7:7 - 9 NKJV)

Thankfully, not all christians belief that the bible is all the truth, there are truths that are clarified in other scriptures. The Book of Mormon declares that Jesus is the Christ and died for our sins. Just as much as the Bible, The Doctrine and Covenents is Modern Scripture for our times, it is not a translation but a modern witness of Jesus Christs divine Role and position in the eternities.

well i dont know the exact answer, but a bible is used as a reference, while what i might saw doesnt have the same effect.
ex.
i tell u the yankees won the 2000 world series.
u dont beleive me and look it up in a sports almanac.
i guess when somethings written down its like proof, while some people feel words can be distorted.
