I am part of a online pregnancy group. We have a secret gift exchange planned. My secret sister is pagan, I don't know much about it... so was wondering if any pagans out there can help me out w/ a cool gift idea. Nothing too expensive please! :-)

it seems to suck pretty hard right now. Corrupt officials, money spend on corrupt corporations and political buddies, no money for the people or social programs, churches dictating how we live, how does one deal with this?

72 Virgins? They get their "virginity renewed" after every sexual episode? LOL! Ok, and the Muslim females get to be "princess" over her husbands "heavenly hoes" once she dies. I'm sorry, but that is off the chain right there. I'd rather go "to hell". So what are the Muslim females supposed to look foward to in the afterlife? Being a Mamma-San to her husbands personal harem?

Me, personally...I'd just settle for a water bong and a planet the size of Jupiter full of the kindest buds.

Bible, Quran, Torah, Talmud, Vedas.
There are more "holy books" in other religions but they don't claim they were written by divine inspiration.
"Hearing the voice of God" doesn't count; hearing voices is a symptom of schyzophrenia.

these hitching posts standing out in the sun without water . I don't care if they have their own beliefs or use the horse for transportation. I upkeep my car and it is not an animal with feelings.Years ago people that had horses as transportation took pride to show off how they cared for them but for some reason the Amish around hear drive the horses til they look like a bunch of bones w/ skin.If I did that with my animals I would be in jail and the papers. Why is this allowed but yet they are so darn worried about gays that want to love each other and be together.Where is the brains of the people ? I have seen horses tied and beaten , I guess break their spirit or to try to just wear them down. God forbid if they had to take time out of cutting all the trees down to work with the horse. I was told they have their own ways, well what the crap is that when we all are equal here on Earth and we better start to treat these people for their screwups just as we do others in our society, right

Some communities have passed laws (landlords are allowed to deny lesseeship, sex offenders can't live within 1000 yards of a school or church, etc) that make it difficult if not impossible for sex offenders to live within that community. While this makes the community feel safer, at the same time these people need to live somewhere.

So the question is, where? It's not enough to say "not in my community, I don't care." Should they be locked up indefinitely, deported, put in separate dwellings, kept under careful watch, or simply forced by the market to cluster in larger numbers in towns that have not yet passed such ordinances?

I am an anthropology student looking for some information on Vietnamese Catholic home altars including Holy Family altars, Marian altars, patron saint altars, and ancestor altars. What is the significance of the altars and the statues, holy cards, and other blessed objects that adorn them? What are some of the more popular saints, and other items (incense, rosaries, holy water, food, fruit) located on the altars? Are certain devotional practices held in the home with the altars as a focal point? Where are the altars located in the home and what happens to blessed objects when they are broken, old or worn-- are they thrown away? Are the altars used in Tet celebrations?
