I am a grad student, but took a long break in school to work for a while. I am constantly at awe with how naive and idealistic some of my classmates are. They usually are younger and work on campus. How can anyone who is so educated be so naive to the world? Many of them seriously think they know how to fix all of society's ills and are on a quest to apply their "superior" knowledge. I am not bagging on all of academia (I am a part of it as a student), but there seems to be a portion of it that is this way. What do you think?

i'm a teenager, and i have certain personal problems in my life. sometimes i enter moods that make me feel like all i want to do is just runaway or spend the next 2 hours all alone. at summer, i used to wake up very early and just walk the entire beach line and come back. while im walking, i can't stop thinking about my life and what i would have done if i lived my life once more. i don't know if this is good or not, if this will help me learn from my mistakes, or make me less-confident. i cant resist the beach without promising myself to wake up the next morning and walk it end to end. sometimes i wish someone was there to talk to me while i walked, sometimes i just stick to my iPod, and sometimes i wish i would have my hours for only me and the beach.my cousins keep asking me whats wrong, but the truth is, i don't know. and in this position i think about it, and i find millions of answers that somehow dont fit. is this depression?or is it lonliness? or stress? or just pure rebelness?

My son ( who will be 3 in february ) doesnt understand when he has done something worng, like the other day he coloured all over the carpet with a permanent marker and when I went to see it he was all excited telling me how he made me a picture . . . . and even after I had him sit on time out and I told him that what he had done was wrong he was still excited that he had coloured a picture and he had no remorse . . . . . and then yesterday he pooed in his underware (hes been fully potty trained for almost a year) and he thought he had done something good . . . even after I explained to him that it was wrong he still thought it was a good thing and he wanted to call his nana and tell her about it . . . . . .

My son is very smart for his age but for some reason he doesnt understand when he has done something wrong . . . can someone please tell me why and perhaps how to explain it too him cause I have tried everything I can think of

I'm 24. I have dreams of owning my own company, traveling the world, and living in a big house. These are all achievable dreams for me. What my vision does NOT include is the 2.5 kids, white picket fence, and a dog...ok, maybe the dog, A bulldog to be exact. Even as a little girl, I never stated that I wanted to be a mommy. My fiancee and I are both set in our ways and neither of us long for a child so WHY does everybody I meet tell me I will change my mind? Isn't it better for me to know that I would be an unfit mother? Isn't it better for me to be aware of my desire to remain childless? How many woman out there have children that they do not want? I do not want to be that woman. I dislike children with very few exceptions and I want a life with my fiancee where we can be free to do whatever we want, whenever we want. On top of that, I have a genetic disorder that I wouldn't give to my enemy, never mind pass to to a child.

So damn it, why does everybody say I'll change my mind?

I am a student in Taiwan and I would like to know what you think about Traditional Chinese characters and simplied ones. I think traditional chinese characters are much more beautiful than simplied ones.
Traditional Chinese characters are made by the six categories -- self-explanatory, characters pictographs, pictophonetic characters, associative compounds, mutually explanatory characters, phonetic loan characters. So, each character is meaningful. However, Simplified Chinese characters are now widely used all around the globe. It's a shame that the traditional now is used only in Taiwan and Hong Kong. I still love the traditional ones for its symbol of Chinese culture although it is much easier to write the simplified ones. What do you think about it?
example: traditional:龍的傳人、中華文化、歷史悠久、廣博無窮 simplified:龙的传人、中华文化、历史悠久、广博无穷
