What motivates them to behave so awfully? Is there something psychologically wrong with them? Are they jerks in person, too?

Some animals, like flocks of birds, schools of fish, or colonies of ants or bees, have a form of collective intelligence that allows them to move and work together as a group.

Do humans also have some primitive connection to the other people around them that cuases them to "become one" with the group? Do we have different roles (like soldier ants vs gatherers or sentries) that are inborn traits?

You are driving along on a wild stormy night. You pass by a bus stop and you see three people waiting for the bus:

1. An old lady who is about to die.
2. An old friend who once saved your life.
3. The perfect man/woman of your dreams.

Which one would you choose, knowing that there could only be one passenger in your car?

You could pick up the old lady, because she is going to die and thus you should save her first; or, you could take the old friend because he once saved your life and that would be the perfect chance to pay him back. However, you may never be able to find your perfect dream lover again.
Who would you choose?

I would say I wasn't scared of death or the afterlife (should there be one - thats another question), but the act of dying doesn't thrill me. The though of beign dead is appealing, but the thought of dying isn't.

Does that make sense? And what are your views on death?
