For the first four years of my life I was legally blind until Prevent Blindness came to my preschool and tested me and I got glasses. I've recently begun to come to understand just how much this has affected my life and how I relate to other people (in fact, the preschool teacher used to complain that I didn't interact well with the other kids and I know that I have difficulties now interacting with others). Could somebody point me in the right direction for resources on understanding and overcoming childhood trauma, especially blindness? Thanks so much.

I'm not your typical girl; I don't shop at brand name stores or obsess over how I look. I'm a hippie and a little punk. I get along with most people and am pretty open-minded. I like guys who are funny but also able to have deep intelligent conversations. I've known this kid since I was 8 or so, we used to argue all the time when we were younger. We're cool now. But he's the popular football star...whatever. I don't care about his popularity or football playing ability, I like who he is. He can have almost anyone, though he doesn't. We talk some but I don't know how he feels about me or anyone for that matter. I'm not exactly shy and I don't have a problem with asking the guy out. Sometimes I want to ask him out but I'm unsure. I've never told any of my friends how I feel about him so I don't know about telling him..now what?

I'm not really interested in the experience behind it, but rather, answer this question: Why do some people enjoy it and some are disgusted by it? What are the characteristics that tilt us to one side or the other?

Hi there,

I've completed 2 years of a 4 year interior design BA at university in Canada and decided it wasn't for me and switched to undeclared. I'm leaning towards a BA in psych with a minor in criminal justice or vice versa.

I'm wondering if anyone has any interesting career options with either of these choices. Any suggestions at all would be helpful. I realize that more education after a BA would be helpful but i'm wondering what i could pursue with a BA. (I may attend college afterwards for a 1-2yr program to specialize if it will advance me).

Thank you for any career tips! :)

I'm a professor in a small town. I was out to dinner at a restaurant/bar, and I saw one of my incredibly bright students absolutely drunk. She's a juinor in college and she's only 18. Her writings in class have showed that she had a rough home life and has been through more in her short lived lifetime than most people experience in a lifetime.

She came up to me, drunk, and told me how she met this guy and was leaving with him. I was worried, so I asked to speak with her in the bathroom because the music was so loud. We walked in and she threw up everywhere. she was laying on the floor crying and i was rubbing her back, trying to comfort her. She was leading into me and crying hysterically.

I feel like I should talk to this student. But how? What should I say?

I can swear on anyone including my mom that this has happened to me. This happened to me when I was in Sydney, Australia in 1995. I was working in a shop at the counter. A graceful looking Indian man with long hair and beard came directly to my counter and said, by looking at my forehead he can tell that I will become a big yogi. I was bit fascinated by that since I already was interested in becoming one. To convince me he did this. Looking at me he wrote something on a paper. He folded it and gave it to me and asked me to open this later. He then asked me to think of my favorite color, lucky number and a flower that I like. I thought of picking the wrong ones but finally decided to go for the correct ones. Once I opened it, I was surprised to see the exact matching answers. I have never revealed my personal details to anyone at any time. Atleast not when I was in Sydney. Is it possible the Guy was reading my mind? I still have no clue. Can you please explain this? No mocking.

Can someone take a look at those questions and help me out a little? I figured that the inflation rose 1216% from 1932 to 2002, but I'm not sure if I can determine which price cost more with just that number of if I need to find the next question out as well, and figure what their salaries would be.

I did that anyway, and working a 40 hour week at 55 cents in 1932 would yield 1,144 a year while in 2002 you'd make 30,700 a year.

So, I figured that 1,144 is 7.6% of 15,000 and 30,700 is 15.3% of 200,000. Would that mean 200,000 is less money today compared to 15,000?

Calculate your price elasticity of demand of apples. What can you say about your price elasticity of demand of apples? Is it Elastic, Inelastic, or Unitary Elastic? Be sure to show the work you used to support your answer with the math work out. Thank you

If a person were to consume only a small amount of alcohol
would it be more likely that they actually believed they were intoxicated (Placebo Effect) or that they were acting/ pretending they were intoxicated for the benefit of saying so. (Benefit: Peer Acceptance or getting away with more)

Also, If someone was given a piece of gum and was told it had a powerful hallucinogen (Acid/LSD) would that person more likely actually believe that they were experiencing hallucinations or acting like they were having them?

Also:
How much of a role does body weight play when it comes to substance tolerance?
Does experience with consuming the substance have anything to do with it at all?

I would also like scientific back-up/ sources (if you have any), please.

Hello All!

I'm carrying out a research project at the moment as I'm in the middle of doing my thesis for my degree. My study is in relation to an area of online dating that has not been studied before, and also choosing between different profile pictures!

I really only need about 20 more people to fill this in, and will only take about 10 minutes of your time! I really value all responses!!! The deadline is Monday, so I'm getting a bit frantic!

This is the link to my questionnaire!

I would really appreciate your help with this!
