Is it a need for mental health services that we can accommodate better than poorer countries? Or perhas the idea of mental health itself is more of a Northern concept. Has the environment in North American significantly contributed to the level of mental illness? Is North America facilitating an increase in needed mental healthcare, prescriptions and an overall ensurance that there will always be a mental health market?

Are there people in poorer countries that perhaps have just as many issues but do not have the means to deal with them? What kind of impact does the fast pace of North America have on mental illness as opposed to other countries that run 'slower'?

As a child, my father was very abusive to my mother. I've seen/heard their fights many times and now my father has gotton away with it and has also left us to go live with another woman.

Now that I'm older I hate myself so much for never calling the police on him when I had the chance. I wish so badly that I had.....

I'm just wondering how exactly that can effect me later on and even now?

Because I seem to have an inability to cope with the fact that he has really gotton away with it all these years. Somehow I still want my dad- But yet I desprately hate the man and want him to go to prison for what hes done.

What has HIS violence caused me???

well everytime I think about my bf my stomach turns into knots, I start too feel slightly nauseas, and I get this light headed feeling. I can't get him out of my head, I keep getting this "vision" in my head where I'm sitting on his lap and we're just cuddling for the longest time (my heart skips at least a couple beats when this happens), I'm not sure what to do and when I look at his pics my heart feels like it's going to explode and when I talk to him it seems like the whole day stops. What is this feeling?

If you did, how many times have you done it? It sounds like a simple question, but I'm doing some research on 'one jumpers', i.e., those who jumped once, but never again. Thanks.

Like they'll say "my boyfriend hits me" instead of "I got out of line and he had to put me in my place"

Or "I was sexually harassed at work" instead of "I dress like a total slut at work for attention and today it worked"

Or "I was raped by my father when I was 10" instead of "I seduced my father when I was 10".

Is it so hard to take responsibility for our choices instead of blaming men for everything?

I am feeling constantly angry, sad, worried, fearful, etc due to things going on in my life and need help getting my mind off these worries and negative feelings and rotten people lately...I feel like i'm cracking up with all these negative feelings...how can I not think like this and get it all out of my mind and stop dwelling on recent things.

By nature I am highly sensitive, have an over developed sense of unfairness and injustice, am a chronic worrier, too nice, too open and too emotional. I feel these things re driving me crazy and my tendencies are starting to wreck my life and worried I'll ruin my health. Please offer serious advice.. (and don't just see see a doctor as I have one and decided I will no olonger take medical drugs for depression and so forth. Thank you..

I use to get angry and regret it all the time and wondered if there was anyway to retain myself from getting upset at something. usually things I got at mad wasn't weren't it in the end because I secluded myself to work things through and missed out on all the fun. My way of staying happy is saying "Serenity now" (from Seinfeld) or just telling myself how good it will be if I don't get angry at this situation or this person. Have anyone else developed a way to control their anger?

you know, where everything bad seems to happen? yeah, we all have "those days," where we trip all day and break things and mess things up. bad hair days, or whatever metaphor you prefer. but on a more serious level, just a horrible day?

today my uncle died and my best friend found out she's moving twelve hours away. good timing, too, i'm right between my birthday and christmas.
