Women often carry tension in their lower backs (guys in their necks and shoulders). I'm guessing that your lower back and upper glute muscles are contracting and you are feeling the pressure on the nerves and the contraction of the muscles as a "weird feeling" or a "tingle" - the same thing that other women are describing as "pins and needles." This may happen when you feel the stress of being scared.
Try putting your hands on your bum, palms flat against your butt and finger tips pointed down. Push your hips forward, and SLOWLY arch back until you are looking at the ceiling. Hold this for about 15 seconds. Don't go past the point of slight discomfort and if you run out of breath, come out of the stretch. To come out of it, slowly straighten up from your belly button, up through your chest, shoulders, neck and finally head.

It is a fight or flight response from your brain. From the beginings of time man was equipped with an adrenaline response to bad situations. It gave them the additional strength needed either to fight an enemy or to run fast to get away from one. It is the same reaction that causes people to shake out of fear or anger or to lift cars off injured people. It is a marvelous thing that allows man to do "superhuman" things for a few minutes.

I don't think it's a psychological thing...I think it's actually a nerve thing. I know the feeling you're talking about...it's a strange sensation. Almost like the pins and needles when your foot falls asleep from sitting on it.

I think its more physiological than psychological. But no, I don't get a weird feeling in my back. I get a weird feeling in my forehead.

Your question is not one of psychology, but one of physiology. I get the same feeling in my rib cage.

Is that like the 'tail tingle' that the turtle in "Over the hedge' gets when something sounds like a bad idea. Maybe its your 'gut instincts' kicking in.. but instead of your 'gut' its your 'butt' :)

In some circles reference could be made to the Kundalini. Sensitivity, awareness, etc. And, no, it is not funny, nor a joke.
