Social Science - 7 July 2006

I've been cutting for awhile and I always seem depressed and alone.I don't know what started this.Well for one my best friend and i like the same guy and she hates me because of that.I told her I didn't want to lose her over this boy but she weren't tryin to hear that.But lately the cuts been getting deeper. And I've been writing depressive poetry.I had no one else to turn to so I came to answers.One night i slit my wrist and the next morning in class the cuts weren't finished scabbing over and they began to bleed
I asked my teacher could I go to the nurse when she saw the cuts she looked into my eyes and asked me what happened. I told her the cat did it. And she let me go.(I'm 11 and going to the 6th grade)
As i walked out my best friend looked at me with the most hatred in her eyes.And my other friend looked at me with worry.The nurse gave me a bandage and i went to the bathroom and cried for the longest time.I don't have money to pay a therapist.And i still cut, what to do?

I was over at my best friends house last night. She is in an unhappy marriage. Her husband was mad at her because she told him about a guy that used to like her four years ago. He used this as a reason to storm out of the house for awhile (very typical behavior). I told her she shouldn't have told him this. He came back later in the evening. I suggested to her that she go to Prairie View for couples counseling. They have a sex clinic there. She was like what do we need a sex clinic for?? I pointed out that they have seminars and that she has good insurance. Her husband piped up that they have a terrible sex life and that she is a bad lover and has been since day one (they have 3 kids). My friend got mad at me for "starting this sh[it]". I told her that I didn't start anything that they were fighting before I got there and that they have been having problems for such a long time. I left quickly and I know I did nothing wrong by saying they should get proffesional help.

In school an asprin cannot be given without a parents approval. So, now they will let someone have an operation without a parent knowing about it? Who is liable for the harm done? The school? The Planned Parenthood clinic? People are nuts who believe this. I suppose they would love to know (after the fact of course) that their daughter excerised the same option apart from their knowledge. Give me a break!

What I don't understand is this: the oil companies claim the price of gasoline fluctuates along with the price of crude; they say that the proportions of what goes into the cost of a gallon of gasoline - refining costs, profit margin, delivery costs, and so forth - are fixed percentages of the price, just like the cost of the crude. So if the cost of crude doubles, all those other things double too.

This seems suspicious. How can, say, refining costs be that volatile? Do ownership and maintenance costs of a refining plant double when the price of crude goes up? Does labor suddenly cost twice as much? It doesn't make sense to claim that everything stays in proportion. Some of these things should be fixed costs that don't vary with the price of the materials.

One of my co-workers has established herself as the 'office-irritant'. She never takes the time to learn program-policy for herself and when an applicable situation arises, she goes from person-to-person to try to find out what to do. We have all tried to be civil with her. We have all tried to tell her (in the nicest terms) to sit down and read the policy for herself...to get an understanding of the policy for herself...to apply the policy for herself. However, she has just about frayed everyone's nerves. She receives the same pay as everyone else. The time has come to 'handle' her ineptness and incompetence. We don't want to 'dig-a-ditch' for her, but we have all had enough! Any sound advice on 'what-to-do' BEFORE we take the complaint to management?

okay! last night i went to bed at 10:30 and then while i was slipping into the dream world i suddenly felt this hand start to stroke my head as if i were a mere child that was upset! but the thing is that my mom, dad, and my little siblings were all asleep and i was on the top bunk of my bunk bed. i tryed to talk to the spirit but it just hit me upside the head and then i started to cry to see what would happen and then i heard this thump and then my closet door started to slam open and close. when my mom woke up to see what was going on everything appered to be normal but when she left it started all over again! what is going on in this twisted place!?
