I think it's OK, as long as the parents know about. It's the girl's life, and a child really can destroy the life, depending on the situation.
Anyway, girls with access to money always will have the possibility to get an abortion, how ever.

It's great to demand parental consent... until you think about what happens to a girl who is living on the streets or couch-hopping and basically doesn't have parents.... or a girl who has been molested by her father, step-father, uncle, or grandfather and is pregnant as a result.... or a girl who is, for whatever reason, so terrified to tell her parents that she'd rather hide the pregnancy, give birth in a toilet, and put the baby in a dumpster....
I agree that a girl who gets pregnant should ALWAYS tell her parents. It's the most important thing she can do for herself and the baby.
But unless you can tell me how to get around the situations I've described, I can't support the concept of legally required parental consent.
You might say that girls who have been molested could get exceptions from the court, but by the time such a case works its way through, it's most likely too late for the girl to have the abortion at all. And then what?

First, you fail to define underage- presumably you mean under 18? I don't know where you live but this is not the standard policy of most planned parenthood clinics. May I suggest that you get better acquainted with the laws before bringing misinformation to a forum?
Better yet though, instead of trying to control what people choose for themselves, make a choice for yourself: against abortion? then don't have one. Don't make the decision for others- just for yourself. I don't know why this is such a hard concept to grasp- I am for the choice and the choice rests with the individual.

If a girl is not old enough to decide her own surgery, she is too young for sex. However, the reality is that it is going top happen. I prefer she make that choice than go through an unwanted pregnancy, a ruined home life, and a future that typically isn't very promising because of the sacrifices made to keep the baby. I am pro choice. IF however, the girl is not of legal age, then the law MUST step in. Someone needs to hang.

For those who found this escape as a viable solution around letting their parents know and continue to use this out, there will come a day when they will be unable to have children and their actions will serve as the biggest irony.
Having said that, if the child is underage her parents should be notified, counseled so they don't go ballistic on the child and if necessary, the child given a cool down period after letting them know her situation. But a minor cannot be separated from those who are responsible for them due to pregnancy.

This is a tough situation. On one hand, I understand how upsetting it is to find out that some clinics will allow a minor to make that sort of decision. On the other hand, the reality is that some clinics do not ask for parental consent even if they know the child is under-aged. Even if laws were in place making it illegal for clinics to provide this service to minors, they are still going to find a way to get over.

I do think parents should know what I have a problem with is that they are trying to pass a law in fla. that the father of the baby must be told before an abortion or adoption EVEN if the conception was the result of rape and the way they are to be notified is in the news paper a description of the act is to be printed along with the girls name if it is someone who is not sure who the father is than you have to put in every one you had sex with during that time

Amen nobodiesinc! It is both ridiculous and disgusting, not only that, the emotional scars left from having an abortion last's a lifetime. What ever school board is allowing this should have their head's examined. The legal ramifications alone are scary not to mention the moral ones.

I do! And I'm not a nut, and I'm willing to bet I have a higher level of education and morality that you. This question is to boring to spend to much time on but contact me if you would like to hear a scenario where parents should have no voice in the matter. I would love to share some with you. Moron!

riddle me this if u have a good relationship with your daughter she would not be afraid to tell the parent that she is having sex . so the parent could give good sage advice instead of her having to carry the burden of losing a child and lying to their parent it doesn't seem fair the way kids have to grow up that is why we as parents should keep our opinions to ourselves and let our kids open up we learn more with an open ear than an open mouth and god forbid something did go wrong with the operation who would bear the responsibility the child who could not talk to the parent or the parent who would not listen to the child .we all make mistakes and we must learn from them
