They are just hearing you , not listening to you.
It's very frustrating and upsetting.
They usually say that they do not remember what you have just said and will tell you that they have a problem of memory.
Only reason is that they do not listen.

Pressure. Some people feel a need to talk, and they often interpret their interuptions as "being part of the conversation". This annoying pattern can be minimized by telling the person in advance - if you know they are interrupters - that you hope to finish your thought before someone else chimes in. Watch'em squirm.

It depends a lot on the person and the context in which they are talking. Most people just want to be heard, for someone to accept them, like them. THat would be their motivation for sharing so much, because they want to be a part of something. A lot of these folks come from backgounds where they were not heard, ignored, neglected, etc, and they just need practice being social. Have patience, and keep listening.....that will teach them how to be.

To get them to shut up, have something that they want, e.g., more status, more coolness or more money, than them. Then they will goggle at you silently and drink the milk and honey that flow from your lips.

to feel they are important and are maintaining a sense of control over the world around them. I see this as more of a way for them to let the world see their inner insecurities. Intrigue me with your silence!
