There are different forms of greatness in the world. You could be the richest, the smartest, the strongest, etc. Those are forms of physical successes. On the other end of the spectrum, you could be the most amazing parent, son/daughter, friend in the world. So, if you could pick one form of greatness, which would it be and why?

I can remember so many things with so many "odd", specific details. When I remember things, I usually see people or things exactly as they were. I never knew if I had a "photographic" memory. Share your experiences, and I'll compare!

I can remember many things about my early childhood - my earliest memory being at age 1.5. Why is it that most people have trouble remembering anything before age five?

I am deathly scared of flies. I see them as desease carrying maggots with wings. I can't get over it and a lot of people find it annoying and wierd. I just need the comfort of knowing that other people have non-typical phobias.

Citizenship: Level 1 (minors protected by basic rights-as they are today) Level 2 (adulthood 18 yrs- must pass basic academics and interview - no criminal record)
Level 3 (paid taxes for 5 years, employed for 5 years, community service record, no criminal record)
Level 4 all the above and have established major contributions to humanity through their profession and community work and helping others to advance their citizenship status
[Non-citizens are not afforded the full bill of rights because they haven't earned them, but are encouraged and aided by everyone to become productive citizens in society]
Citizenship at higher levels allows for more protections, advantages and responsibilities in society. Obviously this is a rough outline - missing many details.

What do you think of the basic idea? Any additional ideas???

This country (USA) is already spiraling down hill. The cost of education is out of reach for some of the brightest kids. Some borrow themselves into debt for a long time after graduation (some may never get out of it).

I see two things happening, 1) some of the brightest will not have the opportunities to go to school. 2) some will get a lucrative jobs with foreign companies to get out of debt and usually that is not for the benefit of this nation.

This country has a need to support these kids in hopes that they can turn this country around. How’s about free education?

In junior colleges, the foreign student paid a lot more tuition then its own citizens. With this in mind, do you think the junior colleges want (profit) more foreign or their own citizens?

I just feel that this government is all talk, too busy selling out the country to foreign companies to benefit only themselves, trying to keep up with the have and have not.

I'm obviously happy to be living it a place and time where I'm not rejected from higher education because of my gender, but I'm alarmed to see that there are still people who prepare their male children for careers and their female children for marriage. In any case, how do you feel about stay at home moms/dads and the glass ceiling in the workplace? I'm just curious to hear any general comments regarding the topic of gender roles ...

Example: In the former Yogoslavia, other than minor arguements, as a whole they got along before the 1990s.
After the break up, "well" we all know what happened then!

Hypothetically, you have married and have two sons.Your husand was sent to Iraq, and died serving his country. Months later, your house is cought on fire with you and your sons trapped in. Firemen are able to rescue you and your children. Your children have no severe injuries, but you have been burned and injured fataly. You are covered in blankets laying on a stretcher.

Knowing you only have minutes to live, two of your girlfriends, (who heard quickly of your trauma) approach you. You are relieved to see them knowing your sons will need someone to watch them. The first lady had an abortion at the age of 19, because the child would have hindered her colledge career. She is now weatlhy, married, and a mother of two. Her children spend their day in daycare. The second women is also married and a mother of two. She to was pregnant at 19, but chose her children over her career. Her husband has a decent job and she is a stay-at-home mother.

Who would you want to raise your sons?

My wife is the most gorgeous woman on the planet, and I tell her this on a very regular basis - yet she continues to complain about being fat and ugly. How do I get through to her that she is absolutely the most beautiful woman I have ever laid eyes on?

This can be a powerful reminder to people that we, in the developed world, live in a small castle surrounded by vast shanty towns. I'm sure this chart exists somewhere. Most (who take to the time to think of this thing in the first palce) imagine this chart would look like a bell curve, when in fact it looks like a power-law curve.

Two problems with this chart, as I see it:

1) Resolution. Cambodia lists as 13MM people living on $1200 per year, for example. In fact, most Cambodians live on less than $400 per year, with a small group that are very wealthy. So a good graph should be based on data that includes some intra-country break-out.

2) GDP per capita versus PPP-adjusted GDP per capita. Ideally, the graph will show the latter.
