What's the best excuse you have used or heard for being late for work?

I work in the office of a manufacturing plant and the best excuse was "I'm gonna be late, someone put a potato in my tailpipe!" LOL, not sure it was the best choice but it sure was hilarious!

1. Car would not start.
2. My alarm didn't go off.
3. You had stomach problems ( use your imagination on this)
4. You got a flat tire.

I haven't personally heard one but if I had to come up with one I would say, "It took me 2 hours to park my car in the parking lot because I didn't want to park over the puddle of water. I wanted to wait until someone left a non-puddle spot, honest!"

I lost my friends dog that I was dog sitting. (I really did though and we sent out a search team.) Found the dog and no one noticed that I was 2 hours late. Don't think that will work again if I oversleep.

oh i have this picture a co-worker sent me last year. it wasnt his car, but someone somewhere had a pyton explode in his engine on his way to work. somehow it got under the hood and overheated and exploded.

I was banging my neighbor's wife and I had to wait until he left to work to do so. I use that one pretty much every Monday.
