Are they accumulated during the hot months preceding the monsoon season? If the answer's yes, then why doesn't the water come down normally (i.e. like normal rain), instead of in heavy torrents for days on end?

Notice the differences in the times of sunrise on Jan 1 and Jan 31 and then note the differences between the times of sunsets on those same dates. Why do not the days grow longer equally at both sunrise & sunset?

Ok, December 22nd is the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. Wouldn't it make sense for winter solstice to mark the dead of winter, which seems to occur sometime in February? Winter proper has just begun. Don't the seasons depend on how much sunlight is reaching the earth?

has it ever snowed in austin texas? the only time i have seen snow down there was when i was about 8 or so and that was like in 1992 or 1993 and there was barley any snow to cover the ground but alot of ice ... so i was wondering would they ever get snow like california or illinois ?
