If the earth at its equator is moving at about 1,000 miles per hour,
(25,000 miles/24 hours) and progressively slower away from the equator, how is it that clouds can keep up and move right along with (or even surpass) the speed the surface below is moving. (For example, cold fronts in North America generally move from the northwest to the southeast, and clouds can make it in just a few days. Why do they even move s.e. at all? Wouldn't the surface just "run off" and leave them, so that clouds always would move west?

We were told by our pilot in Las Vegas that "rain in the desert messes everything up", but no one could tell us why. I am curious now if it has to do with thermals, or what the exact problems caused are. I want to understand what rain does that can cause huge delays even when it's been stopped raining for 4 hours? Was it just a fluke, or does rain cause changes in the air which aren't conducive for flight (remember the rain was stopped for hours before actual takeoff time). Was the amount of rain on Saturday the deciding factor? I can't find any science to answer my questions. Thanks!

One of the neighbors to my place of business wants us to put up a fence because he says the wind only blows from the west and our debris is getting in his yard. His construction debris is getting on our landscaping. He says thats impossible because, again, the wind only blows west. Someone tell me this guy is full of it.

Where it snows, they have 'snow days'....there's too much snow. I think we need 'heat days'...where if it's too hot, then it's treated as a snow day--no school. Ugh, I remember PE in the heat here in AZ...it sucked rocks! Those who have high heat/high humidity know what I'm talking about!!!! What do you think? LOL!

I like the uniform temperature, the absence of the sun, and the natural white balance that the clouds create.
