a 1500 kg car traveling east at 25 m/s and a 3000kg minivan traveling south at 16.7 m/s collide at a perpendicular intersection. Assuming that the collision is completetely inelastic, what is the velocity of the vehicles immediately after collsion? (answer is 13.9 m/s at 53.1 degress south of east) how do you do this?

i have this already
(1500kg)(25 m/s) + (3000kg)(16.7m/s)= Vab(4500kg)
Vab= 19.5 m/s
what's next?

I have this question on my Physics HW and I am having a little trouble. I think I may be making it more complicated than it is. Here is the question
A violin string vibrates at 294 Hz when unfingered. At what frequency will it vibrate if it is fingered one third of the way down from the end?

I am not seeing how where I "finger" the string is going to affect it. It doesn't seem to be explaining this in my book and I am taking this online. You don't have to give me the answer but some guidance on solving it would be great. Thanks in advance.

in a idea for science fiction... a giant particle accelerator/collider is built around the circumference of the moon....the resulting experiments eventually create a small , but stable black hole that immediately swallows the entire mass of the moon....conserving the exact mass of the moon, and its angular momentum... what would happen? would the moon (black hole) collide with earth? depart from the earth? or discharge a burst of energy in the form of hawking radiation, and dissapate? some brilliant mind can surmise this, im sure.. can you? because i cant imagine what would occur

A man holds a ballof weight 1/4Ib (1.11N) at rest in his hand. He then throws the ball vertically upward. In this process, his hand moves up 2ft(.06096m) and the ball leaves his hand with an upward velocity of 48ft/sec(14.63m/s). Find the applied force Fapp with which the man pushes the on the ball.

its pretty interesting but i cant figure it out.. if possible explain how you got your answer...Thank You!

I saw the movie "The One" w/ Bruce Lee the other day. (crappy as hell movie). But it made me start to think, what if there really are parrallel universes. I mean if you think about it, it is totally possible. And it makes perfect sense. Parrallel universes also bring the idea that there is the possibility of "determinism" also exists. There is just so much to think about concernin this sort of thing. So all of your opinions are welcome. I want to hear what you have to say.
