A yo-yo shaped device mounted on a horizontal frictionless axis is used to lift a 30 kg box as shown. The outer radius R of the device is 0.50 m, and the radius r of the hub is 0.20 m. When a constant horizontal force Fappof magnitude 140 N is applied to a rope wrapped around the outside of the device, the box, which is suspended from a rope wrapped around the hub, has an upward acceleration of magnitude 0.80 m/s2. What is the rotational inertia of the device about its axis of rotation?

Electricity appears to bring instant power. But it must take a measurable amount of time to go from ON to Off.
If you had a switch and a light millions of miles apart but could see them both at the same time, would it still appear instant?
Would the answer be the same even if the link between them was a perfect conductor of electricity?

2. Which of the following statements best explains the key difference between velocity and speed?

a. Velocity must be reported in m/s, but speed can have other distance time units.
b. Velocity depends on direction, speed does not.
c. Objects can have different speeds if they are moving with the same velocities, but not different velocities if they are moving with the same speeds.
d. Due to Earth’s gravity, an object’s velocity will always be slightly larger than its speed.

do u know how long it takes for an airbus A380 (or any commercial aeroplane for that matter) to accelerate to its maximum cruising speed? do not include the time taken by the plane while taxying because that can vary. i just need the approximate time taken to accelerate to maximum speed.
i need to use it in the thrust equation for some physics homework.
pls give me an accurate answer....i've been searching the web for a long time but maybe i'm not looking in the right places....

I need to invert an n*n matrix where the values down the main diagonal are all equal to zero. I've tried usingh numerical recipes such a Lower/Upper decomposition and Singular Value Decomposition, yet these seem to give out an error message. Is it actually possible to calculate the inverse of such a matrix?
