Are you confusing the u for the symbol of micron which looks like a cursive u because then it would depend on the mass of the particles

If by "u" you mean "µ", then assuming the same density of particle the 20µ will weigh 4 times the 5µ. By the way, it's usual these days to labels microns as µm = micrometres or micrometers (US).
